US religious cult at Scottish school

Villan Of The North - 7/9/2013 16:37

I have said that I disagree with them but this is not brain washing. It's misinformation according to what the majority believe to be correct.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/brainwashing

Definition of BRAINWASHING

1: a forcible indoctrination to induce someone to give up basic political, social, or religious beliefs and attitudes and to accept contrasting regimented ideas

2: persuasion by propaganda or salesmanship

Now tell me that what those religious nuts did doesn't fall into that category

A forcible indoctrination, they are in school, it is a taught lesson

Persuasion by propaganda or salesmanship, easily falls into that one.

So, it may not fall into YOUR definition of the word, but it seems to fall into everyone else's.

induce someone to give up basic political, social, or religious beliefs and attitudes and to accept contrasting regimented ideas.

Forget the School in Scotland, this is what ALL governments do. Welcome to the system!

So if you told in school that abortion is ok and its not murder - this is not brainwashing?

But if your told abortion is wrong and its just like murder - that is brainwashing?

Who said that?

The fact remains that children are brainwashed in schools, brainwashed by the TV/Computer, brainwashed at home by parents, they are like little sponges that mostly accept what is told to them, so to have some religious nuts obtaining access to schools is wrong IMO, and by religious nuts, I include Christians, Catholics etc

Children should be taught to think, not what to think.

Theres a case in America where a Catholic church used the argument an unborn baby is not a person to win a court case however the church wants to ban abortion because they say otherwise?

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/01/24/fetuses-not-people-catholic-hospital-says-in-court-case/1863013/

A Catholic hospital in Colorado has argued in court documents that it is not liable for the deaths of two 7-month-old fetuses because those fetuses are not people.

So far, courts have side with the hospital.

But that defense contradicts church teaching that human life is sacred from the moment of conception. At least one prominent abortion foe called the hospital's claims morally untenable.

Just saying...

Now I understand, you think brain washing is the same as influencing. That explains your earlier posts

Depends what is being taught. If you want a decent future for humankind, then the current system sucks.

However who was it who brainwashed into this cult? Everything starts from somewhere.

Someone brainwashed them so they could brainwash.

Lo-in-ca it is all an opinion

That's your view. You're in the minority, and you're wrong, but you are entitled to it.

When that big Asteroid is spotted out in Space, heading straight for us, which kids would you want? Those trained in Science, or those taught with the Bible?

Hey, scientists are at it too Mike...We basically teach our kids a load of assumptions - as facts!

No, they teach proven facts given our understanding at this moment in time after numerous quantifiable retests to stretch the initial hypothesis.

Science unlike religion is contestable, and any scientific method or truth taught has been retested many many times to establish validity.

All that link proves is we don't know it all, which even they admit in basis is they can't disprove that generic barriers play role, and even admit they do, but there are other factors that go into it such as natural gene manipulation and DNA changes that equally play their part in the production of new species. Non of which they can nail down because they are looking at it from the angle of one must be the major driver, as I doubt very much it is, it will be a number of things as species evolve over years via subtle changes.

To be established, there research will be open to contestation and the hypothesis will be tested time and time again, and improved on to improve the research.

Nobody will just say this book wasn't rewritten and translated and even though it was written thousands of years after the fact via oral tradition, it cannot be questioned.

Bit of a difference when we use the fact.

And no, that still doesn't address that teachers shouldn't be on a mission, science teachers teach to the curriculum of acceptable evidential proof - not themselves forcing their personal opinions on to students because they are on a mission.

That is not the case for those in your first link, or do you really not see that?
