The All New Takeover Thread

Most of them seem to be members of the scouting team which definitely needs upgrading. It also says that a sporting director is expected to be appointed soon so it looks like Purslow will be concentrating more on the financial/commercial side maybe?

Perhaps this is what he meant when he knocked the FCG back till he had got settled in at least there will be plenty to talk about now.

The report seems to imply Bruce wanted experienced players he knew and Atkins wanted younger European prospects; Atkins was apparently in charge of European recruiting. Does that mean Nyland, Moreira, El Ghazi and others were Atkins' choices?

Note the bloke who overseas the out-on-loan players is also going.

It's not necessarily of worry to Bruce. After all, when Round got the boot it left Bruce freer to do the recruiting he wanted.

Whatever, it's a sign that the management intend to manage. Tin hat time.

The coaching will be fun :
throw ins - we must try to throw the ball to someone on our side.
Corners CBs will wander up for these anyone over 6ft in the box.
pens - do not bother we wont get any JT has left no one in the refs ear with any influence.

Looks like the CEO and owners , have looked that department , evaluated it and decided it wasn't good enough.

I would imagine they are looking very closly at every department.

How long have they been employed? Presumably, they were put in place by Steve Round and maybe Wyness, and it's a 'new broom' thing?

We have hardly pulled up any trees with our transfers over the past few years, so perhaps they just weren't any good?

Obviously not nice for people to lose their jobs necessarily, it seems like an all round cull. Although we need to make difficult decisions to reform whatever is happening on the footballing side of our business.

The worrying part for me as pointed out is the difference in ideas with Bruce favouring experience. Hopefully that is just to fill the word count.

It does seem like a sign to everyone that things need to improve.

Could it be that the Mendes rumours were true so we don't actually need any scouts?

Interesting thought. Certainly looks like they have their own ideas about recruiting and the existing setup doesn't fit. There's a mention of the Leicester chief scout, who Pursloe knows, being lined up as sporting director.

Eggs and omlettes comes to mind. Change is no bad thing and it's a sign that the owners have positive views on the way forwards, whatever those views are. Sorry for those who've lost their jobs, though.

This is actually worrying.
Those that have just been handed their P45's, were scouting young European players, apart from Tommy Mooney, who looked after the young players we loaned out.
It's the personnel who deal with young players that have been sacked. The people who believe the way forward is young players, that the future of our club is young players.
But it looks like Bruce is going to be getting his way and we will become the geriatrics last refuge, for we all know Bruces preference for 'experienced' players.
No matter what he says, Bruce's actions say more about what he really wants and believes in.
This looks like the new owner's are going to be backing Bruce up to the hilt for the forseeable future.
So be ready to see a decent half of football played by an Aston Villa team, maybe three or four times a season, if we're lucky, the rest of the time will be Bruces dross.
