Fully agree with you on that three year quote. It’s such a dangerous line to trot out. It raises expectation within the fans and this league is so tough that it never guarantees success. Sure if we’re lucky we could go the way of Wolves, but we could also go the way of Sheff Wed and Birmingham City, both failed with their promotion pushes, both in embargos and in huge trouble with the EFL for breaching FFP.I know someone on the catering side and they’ve had preliminary plans to revamp the hospitality section for some time. I don’t know if this is linked to the takeover or always been in the works. Apparently the current set-up is not the best for maximising income. I assume that’s both matchday and non-sporting events.
I’m always sceptical when I hear things like “three years to reach the Premier League”. It’s so difficult to achieve and is a moving target as rival teams spend ever more. I’d be content to continue as we are with a little more financial muscle to secure current players and make key signings. In fact not unlike our business in the current transfer window.
However the big thing we have in our favour is Cook. I truly believe that if we were to all of sudden come up with a boat load of money courtesy of the new owners and pushed the boat out to give Cook the right players, he’d get us promoted.
