Rangers (away)

Couple things from the first half.

James, put in very good quality crosses with both feet and an excellent corner. Middleton their left winger beat him a few times with early delivery. Rather than going past him just side by side he stayed with him every time but didn't stop the cross. Very comfortable on the ball, his delivery looks his biggest strength.

Naismith on the other side struggled. Doesn't look up to speed, was pushed off the ball many times, was beat regularly by Candeias. Got into their box a few times and had a chance with a header at the back post from a James cross.

Mcmanaman fell over, haliday kept the ball in and went off the field, Mcmanaman picked the ball up and had a great chance at attacking an exposed flank but slipped over unchallenged. Been quiet, has had some nice touches and close control. But not many dribbles or created anything first half.

Vaughan, had a chance at around 15 mins, he was in but didn't have the pace to get away. Probably had 5-10 yards advantage and upto full speed before the defenders turned around and caught upto him. Was a mistake from their cb from a driven pass that put him in. With that said he has dominated the balls into him first half. Also went close from a James corner with a header just past the post.

Jacobs has played well, just wish he was better at the simple short passes, so often he miss places the easy pass.

Paul Kendrick disagrees with you re Naismith Vic....... he reckons he's making that LB spot his own.

A strong opening 45 minutes in hostile territory against a strong side with plenty of games already behind them in pre-season. A number of key players missing for Latics too. Plenty of possession and probably the better side - particularly impressed with Gibson whose intelligent passing in the midfield could prove very useful going forwards.

A good effort from walker but we are second best to everything. A reality check doesnt do any harm.

Feel bad for Dunkley he is trying to do both positions on his own.
Anyone who says Naismith is a left back and is making it his own is deluded, he has been shocking. We need a left back, no question about it.
I sometimes don't get it he hype or Powell as he seems to be missing and anonymous 80 percent of the time.
Gibson started poor but he has played decent to be fair to him.

Glad I've not gone.

Cook managing us with hands tied behind his back at the moment. Needs new blood, no money due to this friggin takeover. Get it sorted. Either they're taking us over....in which case give Cook at least 5 million to spend, or feck off and leave us alone. Whelans need sort it out, one way or the other. We are nowhere near good enough for Championship, getting smacked by Rangers who would be a mid table Championship side.

Worrying.

Max playing further up and we starting to come into the game . Would be good to not concede any more and even get a goal back.

Bruce was awful, hope for a much better showing if he has to play at all this season. Naismith cannot defend at all, was beaten every single time. Did a little better second half with the ball but still turned it over too much for my liking.

Walker looked sharp when he came on.

Forgot to mention, it looks like we have been training very heavy. A lot of them looked fatigued, need a decent recovery period before Wednesday. As a performance like that against them would be mauling.

I can’t quite work out if you’re being serious. Why ignore the players we’ve signed. Or for that matter the star players we’ve (so far) retained?

Friendlies are irrelevant other than fitness. That’s why both teams changed a dozen players between ‘em.

We’re in the Championship because we earned that spot with an outstanding, title winning, campaign. Judge us on competitive matches. Hot takes end up making you look silly. Whether that’s after a friendly, a league game......or even 10 games.
