Notts Cricket Thread

Not sure if anyone else is still reading this, but Notts have signed Ben Duckett from Northants. He was part of the last ashes tour, till an alleged incident with Anderson and a pint! Now he's at Notts, let's hope he has a pint to prove!
 
Seems we have signed some decent batting prospects

We needed it because we were on the slide.

Not sure either Patel or Wessels are division 1 standard anymore

I would say bowling is fine its just that the bowlers are defending small scores most games and its difficult to be attacking-need a top class spinner. What about this Carter chap LK? Where did he disappear to?
 
Carter is only 22 and it seems to take spinners longer to learn the ropes. Unfortunately his batting isn't too good, so we seem to rely on Samit , as our spinner.

Carter has played 3 Championship matches and taken 15 wickets at 26.
Patel has played 11 Championship games and taken 11 wickets at 59 each.

If our batsmen were good enough to score some runs, we could play Carter, instead of going with a mass of allrounders. At least for once we are off to a good start against Yorkshire!
 
Looks like a draw is on the cards

With two further home games, hopefully we have enough to stay up
 
Been saying it since the start of the season - we’ll be lucky to survive. Fortunately Yorkshire look to be getting the better of the battle of the Roses - could be crucial in our survival.
 
Mick Newell and Peter Moores are trying to compete with AK ! We have signed Ben Slater, Ben Duckett and now Zak Chappell in the past few weeks . Hope they have more luck than our other signings! Coughlin has been injured all year, Nash has been out injured nearly all season, and Footitt has only just managed to make it into the side. I assume he has been injured most of the time too.

Matt Milnes has joined Kent, so it's certainly all change at the moment.

We just need a fit James Pattinson back now!
 
Haven't seen Pattinson mentioned for months so doubt you're going to get him back.

Got to hand it to Cook though, out with a bang.
 
Just had an email saying I've got a ticket for the Australia v Bangladesh World Cup game on 20th June next year. £20 plus £4.50 postage. Assume they are bringing it round in a taxi!
 
Slater, Duckett & Chappell are all positive signings. Add a fit Coughlin next season & it looks like the management team have finally - albeit very belatedly - shaken off their complacency.
Have to agree with LK - a returning Pattinson would be the icing on the cake though the addition of Chappell would indicate not. The choice of overseas player for next season ( batter or bowler ) will be intriguing.

Id go for a class overseas spinner for next year..we are not bowling teams out

The exciting thing about sport is you never know what's going to happen, but we're 19 points up on Lancs, and 35 points up on Worcs (2 games left), so you would hope we've done enough. Hopefully Worcs don't win their game in hand !

Think I would go for a bowler next season, though generally spinners don't seem to do too well. I do think that if our batting is stronger, we should be making more use of Carter. He is only just 22 , and at 6ft 6" , presumably gets a different angle to most spinners. Think I would go for a decent seamer to complement Ball, Coughlin, Fletcher, Chappell etc.
Hopefully he can bat a bit too!

Congratulations to Luke Wood on winning the T20 tournament with Worcs. At least Notts can claim we retained one eleventh of our title!

Hopefully Worcestershire will go on to be relegated now!
 
And looking like we’re finally signing Joe Clarke from Worcester - another batsman.

Where did you read this? Ricki should stay for the shorter formats hopefully, ditto samit

Worcester have gone -probably between us and Lancs
 
Worcestershire definitely relegated. Just need six points from the last game to make sure we finish above Lancashire. Away next week, so won't get to the game. Even a few days rain could keep us up!

LK -you heard anything about Joe Clarke coming to us-that would be another god decent batting addition
