The Fear
A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
I'll be 39 in 3 weeks.
Just saying.
You don't have to all chip in and buy me presents.
Well you do actually... if you read the small print when you signed up.

54 isn't old. FACT.
I'm a few weeks older than Erod which must make me the Godfather of Vital Villa.
My first game was in November 1963 v Bolton - 3-0 to Villa.
My parents lived in Brum from the mid 1950s to 1990. I first started supporting the Villa after my Dad started sending me the SPORTS ARGUS every Saturday night.
It's nice to know that we have at least 5 Vital Villans under the age of 35.
Bit ahead of you BBJ. Can't remember actual first game but was 61/62 season. First game I do remember vividly (this is why I live in hope!) was v Leicester April 1962 which we won 8-3. Bobby Thompson got 3 and The Doog got 2. Went again a few days later on my birthday to see us beat N Forest, I think it was 5-1. Became a regular the next season and that was the year we lost 10 or 11 games on the trot. But some great players - never forget Jimmy McEwan steaming down the wing with his bandy legs and Harry Burrows terrifying goalies when he shot - could take their heads off.
Is under 35 or 35 and under? This is important to me.
Aaaah.....Nope, you beat me!! Not by much, though. We're a load of old sods on here, aren't weBut are you older than me in years? Like Erod, I'm an early "baby boomer", a January 1946 model!
But you do have dementia...and dont know who you are.....your name is Bruce.....JF can confirm I have no idea how old I am!
I'm 31, American, with no ties to Brum or the club... I've been a die-hard Villa supporter for over 12 years now.
In Summer of 2006, I moved into a new apartment in preparation for Uni, and it had cable with the Fox Soccer Channel, which played Sky Sports News every night and showed nothing but non-stop replays of the Premiership all day. It was right on the back of the World Cup, which was my first introduction to the sport, and it really caught my attention. That summer, I worked, partied, and watched footy replays all day. I saw the whole Lerner takeover unfold on SSN every night. When the season started, I caught what games where on FSC and saw a bit of the unbeaten MON run, and I took to the club. After a bit of searching, I found a forum of football game recorders. All the Sky clubs were readily available, with the other Premier League clubs being hit and miss, but I really took a liking to the Villa for some reason. It was just love at first sight for some reason.
During my time supporting Villa in the USA, I've yet to meet another homegrown American supporter like me. Americans pretty much exclusively support the Sky clubs and Fulham (Because of all the Internationals they had playing for them over the years like McBride, Dempsey, Bocanegra, Ream, etc.). I've met a few expat Villa supporting Englishmen at footy bars in NYC and San Fran, but never another yank. I've also had to endure an incredible amount of abuse over the years from elitist plastic American fans who have looked down on me for supporting a "small" club like Villa. Man United fans are the worst, which is probably why I hate that club even more than I hate the Blose.
Now that I'm all grown up and have some disposable income, I'm probably going to make the journey out to Villa Park for the first time next season.
