I was talking to a severely disabled man and woman on Sunday, they aren't a couple just live in the same bungalow complex. This complex was originally designed for elderly or the severely disabled. Now both these people have recently had partner that have passed away. They live in two bedroom bungalows and claim housin benefit. Which has subsequently been cut by 14% due to the so called bedroom tax, they both have spare rooms. Both have lived in their homes for many years. They have both tried to get a one bedroom flat in a warden controlled complex, nothing is currently available an there is a long waiting list.
The system of cuts is fair from fair.
This is a 14% cut and bereaved families will be given a year's exemption.
It is estimated that the cut in housing benefit for those with spare rooms will on average be around £14 - £16 per week.
These cuts however DO NOT effect pensioners.
Labour called it a bedroom tax. However it is just another cut in one of the benefits offered by our country. = We are all suffering to some extent and the disabled(unless elderly) are unfortunately as liable as the rest of us during these hard times.
