No problem. I think overall Palmer had a great season for us. But I still think we will be looking at a permanent signing rather than a loan signing.
I'm not sure to be honest. The point has been made before that Premiership and Championship teams often have 4 or 5 very good 'keepers in their first team squads, and only one can play at a time, with a backup for the cups etc. This means we should be able to pick up a very decent player on presumably modest wages for the season. Potentially more economical than a permanent signing, I don't know.No problem. I think overall Palmer had a great season for us. But I still think we will be looking at a permanent signing rather than a loan signing.
Palmer played 58 games for us this season and as the keeper in a League 1 team that was in the top 3 for almost the entire season, somehow that is not good enough?
Would expect Palmer to be WBA back up next season.
Eyoma, Rogers will be championship.
Johnson will be at Forest or sold to premiership.
Morton will be league 1 again.
I didn't say he is not good enough. He certainly is a decent League One keeper.
I said we can do better. And that I am sure will be MA's aim in every position.
Palmer is a good reflex shot stopper. However he is not great on low shots from distance, can be indecisive coming off his line, and his distribution can be poor. We unfortunatelt saw all three of those weaknesses at times on Sunday.
I really don't get where you are coming from to be honest. "Indecisive coming off his line"? Really? Probably the most dominant keeper in his box we have had since forever.
Not great on low shots from a distance? Care to elaborate on any from before the play-off final?
As regards to the final.
The first one in the final is literally from the edge of the 18 yard box and is driven past the attempted block of Eyoma, not what I would call "from distance" (and somehow Grant appears to completely have escaped censure for simply giving the ball away in the middle of our half)
The second is also from the edge of the box and goes right in the corner after we fail to clear the ball despite being given two attempts
I really am not sure where this "not agile enough" stuff from...
Check out the Oxford highlights for his save at 1:20
V Charlton at 0:50
Neither of the excellent saves Bursik pulled off in the Sunderland game were anywhere near as close to on the deck (both were waist height or above) as the two Blackpool scored, I think he claimed one ball into the box from above his head all night (the others he claimed were a call and collect into the midriff) and yet apparently he "dominated his box"
Between the lines, I suspect Spurs have already told us TJ will not be back next season, hence the January signing of Poole. He is surely heading for the next level up.
I am not so sure about Rogers, though. Capable of brilliance, but would he really win a regular place in a Championship side? He has just gone 14 games without a goal, that is not good for League One and would certainly not cut it at the higher level. I think he needs a full season in League One - where better to send him than here? We gave him 28 games and a Wembley final, so Man City cannot complain about that.
Johnson is definitely in Forest's plans and I'm afraid to say there are better goalkeepers than Palmer out there. Morton? Made a big impact in League Two last year but I think he struggled a bit in League One.
Therefore, Rogers is the only realistic return for 2021-22.
The natural inclination is to believe we have outstanding players who will be impossible to replace, but it isn't true. There are others out there perfectly capable of doing well for us, and that is the exciting part for me. However good some of our loanees have been, we will have good replacements next season.
Sorry to pick this one, but there's a few saying "we can do better than Palmer".On Palmer, I'd be happy if we signed him again but equally happy to move on. I think people who are saying we can do better are right in the sense that he has weaknesses in his game (low shots from range and kicking). He also has some huge strengths that have helped us get to where we are. He's a very good keeper, but maybe we could find a more complete gem.
When you have been watching Lincoln over 60yrs there have been some very poor goalkeepers.Interesting to read the comments regarding Palmer. Just my opinion but I thought he had an outstanding season. He has a lot of good qualities - superb at handling crosses, has a commanding presence, good with reaction saves and one-on-ones, I actually thought he was very good with the ball at his feet (made a couple of mistakes but you are going to over a full season) and also good at throwing the ball out.
Agree with the comments about low shots from the edge of the box that maybe he can't get down to quick enough - I think that is his Achilles heel but maybe that can be worked on?
If he doesn't come back (likely) I notice Kieran Westwood is not being retained at Wednesday, wonder if he can be tempted down a division?
Of course!, Now edited. that will take me time to get used to ,being in the same division as them !Wednesday are in the same division now.
No worries our rise and some big clubs demise takes some getting used to, could be a lot Wednesday players available if they don't get paid soon.Of course!, that will take me time to get used to ,being in the same division as them !

Yet only a few weeks ago there was a thread on here comparing him to the best goalkeepers this club has ever had.
His record speaks for itself, played all league games with, what 18 clean sheets behind a defence changing personnel frequently. He had a dip in form, not alone in that, but for a first season at this level his performance levels and consistency has been pretty good.
'A more complete gem' at L1 may be chasing rainbows.
