Yellow Cards: Current State Of Play

Update after the Grimsby win.

The next cut-off point is the thirty-seventh league game, currently scheduled to be the home game against Oldham on 12 March; however, postponements and rearrangements may affect that. Ten yellows accumulated in league games on or before then will result in a two-game ban. Weekly movements shown in bold:

4: John Akinde, Michael Bostwick, Neal Eardley, Michael O'Connor
3: Harry Anderson, Lee Frecklington, Jason Shackell, Harry Toffolo
2: Bruno Andrade, Tom Pett, Matt Rhead, James Wilson
1: Shay McCartan

0: Cian Bolger, James Brown (one yellow in U23), Kellan Gordon, Bernard Mensah, Danny Rowe, Grant Smith, Josh Vickers, Scott Wharton

n.b. The FA Fair Play tables suggest Matt Rhead has three yellows, but I can find no trace of more than two (Colchester away, Cambridge away).
Another where BBC have the wrong record then (they say Freck not O'C. What baffles me more is how the OS match report often have the wrong players booked, surely the club get told!

Just to confuse us all further, the FA has now changed the fair play tables to show cards accumulated in league games only when all season they have been all-competition.

On the FA site, it's always been split between League and All Competitions.

Had to dredge this up from page 6 - we haven't had a yellow for three games.

So, the current position is:

The next cut-off point is the thirty-seventh league game, currently scheduled to be the home game against Oldham on 12 March. Ten yellows accumulated in league games on or before then will result in a two-game ban.

Excellent stats for a team of physical giants and bullies?!

It is all very well saying how well we fought with ten/nine men (which is true), but I can't help feeling our reds were avoidable: Chapman, Frecklington and now Anderson for so-called over the top challenges, Shackell for chatting back and Andrade for petulance. Perhaps the natural result of being totally committed. Unfortunately, four of those five have resulted in three-match bans.

We have only had 41 yellows in league games, which as Luke says is the fourth best record in L2; however, only Stevenage (9) and Grimsby (7) have had more reds.

Maybe it's part of the plan? Sometimes we seem to play much better with 10 than 11, e.g. Swindon

Apparently it's about time we got some red cards, as we are intimidate the refs into not booking and sending our players off.
Pity then we can't intimidate them the other way to get the refs to give us blatant handballs and pushes in the area like Saturday hey?
The logic and arguments of some opposition fans is frankly baffling to me.

Eardley was booked after the final whistle...

With only four more games until the cut-off, the good news is that we cannot now pick up any suspensions for ten yellows despite the fact that we are apparently the dirtiest side in Christendom.
