Transfers - Summer 2024

New brush sweeps clean, perhaps about time.
I clearly remember over here, the much lauded 'Bob Bishop' for those without any info, he's the guy who discovered 'George Best' unfortunately, Bob only ever scouted at two schools Orangefield or Ashfield Boys where Sammy McIlroy and Dee McCreery came from, if you weren't at those schools, Or, didn't play against them, you didn't count. Sad really.

He's only been here for all of 5 minutes & he's forward thinking already. I'm impressed & pleased to hear about the move.

Lange is under scrutiny in this new role. It's not about buying low and selling high like Copenhagen. It's not about building a core of PL players, eliminating the risk of relegation and becoming a top half side like Villa. This is by far his toughest challenge and even if he makes it more data driven he'll still be measured on the success of the team. He therefore needs to keep churning his own team until he feels it is the right fit to serve Ange.

Johan Lange is letting three recruitment staff go, including Ian Broomfield who has been at the club forever .

He wants staff who are more on board with with the new forms of scouting .
It's five Walt:

We are letting go five of the club’s longest serving scouts as part of the ongoing restructuring of their football staff.

Ian Broomfield, Augusto Benito, Alessandro Sbrizzo, Dave Butler and Colin Jackson are all leaving as part of Tottenham’s transformation of their scouting team.

The move is part of a complete review of football operations dating back to the arrival of chief football officer Scott Munn in September 2023. Tottenham then appointed Johan Lange as technical director in October 2023, with Rob Mackenzie following as Tottenham’s new chief scout.

Ange has made no secret of how underpowered Spurs were in the summer when they were without a director of football, and has since spoken of his good relationship with Lange and Mackenzie and his respect for their work.

He views good recruitment as key to his rebuilding job at Tottenham, and it appears the club are doing all they can to build a structure that supports him.

The wider context to this is that a number of long-serving staff have left Spurs over the last few years in what has been a period of monumental change for the club. The news on Thursday was the latest example of that, and has been badly received by some in and around the club.

Ultimately these decisions will be judged by Tottenham’s performance in the transfer market, which have been much improved in the last few years.

Aren’t our accounts required to be filed by now. They may give some indication as to how our summer spending may look - these hotels don’t come cheap you know.

And how long is Ange’s contract ?
Doesn’t sound like they are expecting him to do his usual routine of three years and buggering off .?

I really hope the club does the right thing and allows Rodon to join Leeds for a fair price in the summer, he has been brilliant for them and deserves a move after the lack of opportunity we have given him.

What a mystery his situation is.

Can't say I've seen anyone come off the bench and do better than I'd expect he'd do, having been given a fair chance. Feels like a sitch where we are paying to replace a better guy we already have. Weird stuff.

He must be a real dickhead or something.

It's a shame about losing Colin Jackson. He had many hurdles to cross in his time as a Spurs scout. I guess he fell at the last one
