The Keinan Davis Thread

He needed to go out on loan, i think that would have done him good. I think he's been good coming off the bench, but we need more than that from him.

No, I think Keenan has done his utmost. We need more from the management to get better options as back up

Keinan has done ok Silhill, i like him a lot, Ive said in the past i would like to see him along side Watkins as the hold up player bringing Ollie into play, but Smith don't seem to want to do that, so i think we will only see 10 mins of him.

I like the guy, but if he's our backup striker off the bench next season something has gone badly wrong over the summer

I'd agree with that, but that's not a reflection on Keenan's future. It's time for him to go out on loan. He has to play, something he's never really had much of in his career. See where he is in a year's time. But sitting on our bench for another year, no.

I agree, but if we bring another backup striker in, which we do need, who is going to come here to be backup? If Abraham comes back here, Smith will need to change the system, which is probably not a bad thing anyway, because playing with a lone striker don't work for me.

Yup, I'm on board with that particularly as we don't use him to his strengths anyway. He's probably already earnt more in his life than I have, but it won't be about money given his character. Loan or freebie, but get the lad playing time so he develops and can move on with our blessing, so he has no regrets.

He'll be an alternative version of Heskey at championship or League 1 level...

The Everton co-commentator today said that you need to provide Davis with the right service, get the ball wide and delivered into him.

I don’t see him like that at all, you could stick 100 balls into him and 99 would end up in the Lower Holte.

What you need is players who play off or near him, he brings the midfielders behind into play well and can work the ball down in the final third for the wingers to get the ball. When he does that build up work, he actually tends to find himself a bit away from the box to get on the ball on the edge of a cross.

Having a team that services the ball to him in the box, is a waste of time. Put him in a team to build up the play and service other people, is the only way he fits in.

Fully agree. We are not playing to his strengths. Judging him on his goals is folly. Even his biggest fan, assuming he has any, will agree that as a goal scorer he is the worst to ever play in the prem I think.

Tammy down the middle and Watkins playing just off him. It's not rocket science

Or play both a bit wide. Ollie moves all over the place anyway, and Tammy is no slouch. The two together could create nightmares for the defence. Especially with Jack in behind them.

I have a gut feeling he's coming back and it's all settled.

Davis can go out on loan to prove himself. Wesley provides a third choice and is unsaleable anyway until he's shown he really is back.

I really hope Tammy is on his way back

No.
It‘s absurd .

But if there is a more recent example of a forward being turned into a permanent defender for a premier league top 6 side then please educate me. An example from 40 years ago when the game was a different world from today is hardly a compelling case.
This is the real world not Fifia .

Davis v Kane . Can’t wait . :slap:

Well Dion Dublin ended his career playing centreback.
It's not something that happens often but, it does happen and sometimes very successfully.
I think that looking at Keinan's strength's and weaknesses as a centreforward, his strength's convert to centreback play very easily, while his weaknesses as a centreforward, are not something that any amount of specialised training will ever correct.

Sol Campbell maybe but he switched positions way before he was 22.

Davis to centre half would have made sense when he was 15/16. Probably would have had a better career there as well. But absolutely no chance he could do this now. Too long in the tooth to learn a new position at this level.

Davis is 23 and you've virtually put him out to pasture.

Until kids mature kids play where
they want to regardless of where they would be of most use.

He's awful.

And yet quite a lot of people, including and most importantly, professional coaches at the club see a lot of ability and potential in him.
I fully agree that he'll never make a centre-forward but, I can see him being a solid centre-back or, maybe even a DM.

It’s so funny reading suggestions to just re-train an inferior player to play central midfield :ROFLMAO:

It’s not primary school stuff, it’s elite level sport. Very few players can change permanent position, let alone one who is so inferior technically. And then to chuck them in the middle of the park where you need to be agile and have eyes in the back of your head.

He has a career in league 2, not central midfield.

I think he'd be ok above league 2 , championship in a good side he'd be ok
