The government has made/is making a right bloody mess of all this.

Absolutely a disgrace all these protests at a time like this No thought all all about spreading this virus. Then next thing we will be calling Boris on here. was listening to that fool. Mayor of Manchester. Who like always was on the fence would not come out and say it was wrong. What would happen if the Pubs said balls to it and opened Police can’t do any thing. To stop it as if they try The press will turn on them. Be one of them soon. Look after any yourself don’t give a shit about any one else Second wave on its way.
And for anyone wanting to criticize Boris and the government the Bell ends have played into their hands and they can walk away Scot free of blame and point to the thousands who haven't listened to their advice and who behaved in a dispicable and irresponsible manner.
Thanks government and NHS key workers etc but you have been sadly let down by the people you have worked so hard to help.

The government might be able to point to the thousands should (well, when) a second wave comes along, , but they certainly aren't going to be free of blame.

Why on earth is Andy Burnham a fool John? He's mad as a wasp at Johnson for easing lockdown, when here in the NW, the R rate is still around 1.

I didn't see the interview to which you're referring, so not really sure what the wouldn't come out and say.

Rightly or wrongly, the government have given the impression that things are getting much better ........ they've planted the seed, and they've no moral authority, based on their own actions and statements.
Short memory here.
Andy "on the buses" Burnham was cheek to jowl with the donkey mon calling for a lockdown easing - now they've got one and surprisingly as it's not going well - SKS has gone v.quiet leaving Burnham to play the hypocrite.
Interesting no condemnation from either of them around todays protests never mind the developing riot 🙈

Not biting Hampton. Easing? ......or a plan for how to do it .....sensibly?

As if the police have not got enough to do they are now being forced to not social distance. Wonder what the silly London mayor will have to say. Funny old Steptoe not there. With his bill board

He probably is and 'Suits you Sir ' but the press won't show that.

An inability - or unwillingness - to admit to mistakes, even with the benefit of hindsight, isn't a great thing.

Maybe they see it as a sign of weakness. Maybe they think they might end up being sued. Maybe it's a real belief that they have actually done the right things at the right time. ..................... though surely they can see that is comes across as arrogance, especially given the evidence to the contrary.

There are parallels with Cumgate ................. a slightly different, more remorseful approach would probably have garnered a different response from those watching, listening and "judging". We all make mistakes. No-one's infallible (except Jordi Gomez of course). Everyone wishes they'd done some things differently sometimes.

Not our Health Secretary apparently.

Unless of course Hancock is correct and the govt did follow the science (or at least the majority view of the science) at a point in time. If so why apologise for it ?
And for the record - Prof Edmunds was the SAGE main proposer of herd immunity until mid March - just saying 😉
"Two sides" as you keep trumpeting !

That would be a different response though. It would be saying that yes, they followed the science, but the science itself has been proven to have been wrong.

He didn't say that though, did he?

Absolutely 2 sides ......... but as I didn't mention Prof Edmunds, I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make. Mine was merely about the inability of this government to admit to getting anything wrong ........regardless of the advice it was given.
