Single Market & Customs Union

By the way, moderators, have these two posters overstepped the line of acceptability?

Come on Notts .....play fair. Left wing scum, right wing scum, don't you see a common theme ?

I didn't get that anyone was saying that all left wingers are scum .......... just as I presume you wouldn't argue that all right wingers are either. However, extremes to either view can very easily go over a line which most people would consider to be acceptable.

I saw the poster over the bridge & the hanging effigies, and it's every bit as despicable as the BNP (and other extreme right groups) slogans.

Moonay, those to are attempting to personalise their abuse by talking about teachers - totally over the line of acceptability and disrespect.

Neither speak, hear nor see that evil eh Notts?!

Disappointed .............. & I'm on your side of the debate.

Moonay, those to are attempting to personalise their abuse by talking about teachers - totally over the line of acceptability and disrespect.

They weren't saying that teachers were like that. Just that they hoped that teachers wouldn't be like that. For either side.

There's a difference.

Notts you're talking bollocks. The question posed by Hindley was regarding if we would want children taught by this left wing scum or the BNP. His answer and mine was no, because they are equally as bad.

You will of course clarify your statement about attempting to personalise abuse by talking about teachers. In fact you won't because there was none.

I can only only assume you are deploying typical leftism tactics about making allegations against someone in the hope of shutting down the debate because you are losing it. I've yet to hear your views on the banner that was effectively suggesting to kill those who have a different political belief. Do you support this or would you like to condemn it?

Let's give him time, however a non response or lack of condemnation will sadly tell us everything we need to know.

One banner does not portray the whole picture, as you well know. Personally, I hate the distinction between left and right wing, especially in the context of the EU debate. It is totally out of context.

The overwhelming majority of people attending the demonstration , quite within their rights, were not carrying such banners. The right wing press ( i.e. most of the national newspapers) jumped in on this one banner, which could have been a planted for all we know, and ignored the rest of a peaceful demonstration.

Just to clarify, put simply, left wing includes people who put people for profit i.e. socialists. Capitalism (or the right wing) is all about putting profit before people. People are exploited by capitalism. Try reading some Marx not Groucho !). You may start to see what left and right are all about.

No condemnation though..never mind.

Also what a proud day for the EU..
761 injured ( including elderly women and children ) for having the temerity to want a say in their future.

A member of the Spanish government on the telly trying to condone this police brutality. An EU flag in the background.

Where's barnier and the rest of the idiots with their condemnations ?

Policing demonstrations - even peaceful ones - is probably always a difficult thing to manage. All it takes is one or two idiots, and then to the police, almost anyone could be a potential idiot.

In this instance, the level of control, repression, threat, force and ultimately, violence was so massively out of proportion, it was appalling.

Just because it happened in Spain doesn't make it an EU issue though.......... albeit I fully agree that the incidents should be roundly condemned .............by everyone.

So no condemnation then Notts. It was a very simple question with a straight forward answer. Im sorry to say but your failure to express that the banner was wrong tells me a great deal. You (quite rightly) condemn those that seek to discriminate against others on the grounds of race for example but can't bring yourself to condemn those that seek to discriminate others who hold a different political view by wishing to see them hung. It sickens me to be quite honest and confirms to me that the real danger in society are now those on the far left as oppposed to the right.

The banner was a banner, crudely expressing harm to members of a political party, it required no further context. It wasn't a placard being carried by an individual on a demonstration. The momentum party had its conference last week I don't recall seeing such offensive banners toward Corbyn and his supporters or hordes of people protesting against him and his unrealistic views and aspirations. The whole crux of this thread is about Brexit and democracy and the fact the verdict is being upheld and acted upon to respect that and prevent anarchy. Yet all I see are hordes of people in this country unwilling to respect it whilst the silent majority maintain their dignity and express their views at the ballot box. No one wishes to stop free speech but this outright abuse from this vile bunch of people needs to stop.

The events in Spain were appalling.

The policing at the Catalan referendum, the Corbynistas outside the Tory conference in Manchester, the army in Venezuela need we go on. They all have a common theme.

It's all out of order in my book, no need for any of it. Scum the lot.

Nationalism can be a dangerous force if unleashed. However, nobody can condone the actions of the Spanish police. There is no place for violence of any form, verbal or physical. Peaceful cooperation and collaboration is the way forward, where the selfish actions of individual nation states are not allowed to impede progress. Again, this is why the EU has such great potential as a model for peace and prosperity. Nationalist political parties like UKIP have no place in the future.

You should control your anger, Pies. It is wasted on me. I am a pacifist, like most remainers. All the aggression in this debate appears to come from the leave camp. The overriding feeling in the remain camp, I would say, is frustration - remember, that's nearly half of the people who voted who just can't believe how nationalistic people in the UK can be in this day and age.
