Millers out on loan 2020/21 thread

29/12/20

12.55pm Despite Covid and the bad weather, tonight's three "loan squad" matches are still on at the moment.

5.55 pm Update 1 - Newport County game now postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, so PROCTOR not in action tonight.

Update 2 - Tilt and Kayode both start

Update 3 - Both played whole game, neither scored , neither booked

TILT (Wigan Ath., L1) W4-3
KAYODE (Carlisle U., L2) match abandoned after 9 mins due to poor state of pitch (Carlisle losing 0-1)

Latest comments from Warney on Paul Davis/Advertiser website suggest that Kayode is not returning to the NYS in January , but may be loaned out to a L1 team next. Which probably means Cooper won't be returning in January either.
Gateshead FC Twitter has just reported that two other players that they had on loan have now returned to their parent clubs, but nothing about Cooper.

Good luck for 2021 lads!

Here we are struggling for players - and I think this virus is going to be around for some time to come - yet we are thinking of letting players leave or go out on loan. It just doesn't seem the right thing to do to me. Also Warney doesn't sound too hopeful of getting players in this month does he.

Latest Paul Davis (Advertiser) Twitter - Tilt being considered for a recall to NYS , but no definite decision yet.

My comment - decision likely to depend on fitness state of Robertson? ( If so, we may not make the decision until very near the deadline). Think our current loan players can be recalled from 4th January, if RUFC want to do that, ie after the next scheduled "loan squad" game.
Also - Carlisle United have recently stated in the Cumbrian press that they want to extend Kayode's stay with them, if possible.

Jake Cooper won't be in action tomorrow. Gateshead v Blyth Spartans match has been postponed due to Covid cases in the Blyth squad.

Doesn't it also mean that the players we've loaned could be recalled? Although haven't we only got Jozefzoon and Blackman on loan?

We have Hirst on loan too. Derby might want to recall Jozefzoon from a "relegation rival", although all three of them haven't been a massive success, considering what many Millers fans were optimistically expecting at the start of the season.

Update 1 (1pm) Curtis Tilt not in action today - Swindon T. v Wigan Ath. has just been called off due to a frozen pitch.

Update 2 (2pm) Jamie Proctor not in action today either - Newport game also postponed due to a frozen pitch. Josh Kayode starts for Carlisle U. No internet radio commentary - so unless you can receive a signal from BBC Cumbria you won't be able to listen to the match

Update 3 - (3.48 pm) HT : Plenty of shots from Carlisle and they are leading 1-0.

Update 4 - ( 4.37 pm ) Kayode has just scored. Carlisle double their lead.

Update 5 - Full time

KAYODE (Carlisle U., L2), played whole game, scored one , not booked, W2-0

Will any of the "Loan Squad" be moving over the next few days? Rumour that Donny are one of the L1 clubs that are interested in taking Kayode on loan.
Curtis Tilt probably playing for Wigan on Wednesday, unless recalled by the Millers by then . We shall see...

Wigan Athletic announced yesterday on WAFC Official Twitter that their next two fixtures have now been postponed due to coronavirus cases at the club, so Tilt will be not be playing for a while. No information about which players have tested positive for the virus.

No "Loan Squad" games until next weekend now.

If Kayode is not coming back to at least get on our bench then I'd like him to stay with Carlisle - he's used to them and, personally, I think that would be fair to them. Though, I'd rather he came back home.

It's a tricky decision, if he is going to remain a "Loan Squadder". Is it better for him to be a regular first team choice at Carlisle? He's often not playing in his "normal" position, but that could also be viewed as deveolping his all-round game... or moving to a L1 team where he may be only on the bench and not get much game time? Uprooting and restarting elsewhere halfway through the season could also have a negative effect . Players own views are important in this situation too.

Paul Davis (Advertiser) Twitter - Curtis Tilt and Jake Cooper have been back training with the rest of the Millers squad today.
The next couple of games of their loan clubs were postponed anyway.
So... sounds like their loan spells have been completed for now, but could still be renewed before the deadline. No news on Joshua Kayode or Jamie Proctor. Don't forget that we will have to name our 25-man squad for second half of the season soon.

Additional - Joshua Kayode in Sky EFL L2 "Team of the week" following Carlisle's 2-0 away win Walsall at the weekend. Well done, Joshua!

From Warney's comments it now looks like Kayode will be staying at Carlisle for the second half of the season. No news about Proctor, but his loan to Newport doesn't end until 17th January (according to Wikipedia).

Joshua Kayode not in League 2 action tomorrow. Carlisle's game at Brunton Park has already been called off due to a frozen pitch.

Jamie Proctor may be playing for Newport County in the FA Cup on Sunday though. The Exiles have signed two more forwards this week, so could that mean the end of Proctor's loan shortly?

Newport Co v Brighton FA Cup Round 3 game goes ahead tonight (7.45 k.o.).
Proctor is on the bench for the Exiles.

Update 1 - 62 mins still 0-0. Ryan Taylor on as sub for Newport. Jamie Proctor still on bench, so is Kevin Ellison.

Update 2- Brighton score in 90th minute. Proctor and Ellison on as injury time subs... and PROCTOR scores equaliser in final seconds of normal time!
FT 1-1 . Going into extra time (With three Millers/ex-Millers on for Newport!)

Update 3 - Proctor shot was deflected in and is being credited as an own goal now . Ryan Taylor offside now - who would have expected that? :innocent: Kevin Ellison's 42nd birthday, next month according to match commentator.

Update 4 - Extra time HT : Still 1-1. Proctor getting stuck in and involved in a lot of the action.

Update 5 - Newport under a bit of pressure now, getting tired but still hanging on. Ellison had a goal-bound shot blocked in the last few seconds, Newport penalty appeal turned down.

Update 6 - Finished 1-1. Going to penalty shoot-out.

Update 7 - Brighton keeper Steele saves first two Newport penalties. Ryan Taylor then makes it 2-1, after Brighton have penalty saved, then hit post. Another good save by Steele, then King saves another penalty for Newport . Going into "sudden death". Jamie Proctor makes it 3-2 , then Brighton equalise. Another save by Steele, then Webster finally puts Brighton through. Penalty shoot out finishes Newport 3 Brighton 4.
After a slowish start, turned out to be a cracking FA Cup game!

Additional - just seen highlights. Proctor challenged for the ball in the goalmouth, but didn't actually make contact , so definitely an own goal

Nothing signed off for Kayode yet, but Carlisle are still keen to extend his loan , according to reports in their local press . He could be in action again on Tuesday (12/01/20). No mid-week fixture for Proctor .

6pm - Not sure what team selections are but Harrogate T. v Carlisle U. match ( scheduled 7pm kick off) may be delayed due to a power failure! The local area is affected by the power cut, not just the football stadium.

Update 7.30pm - The match has now been called off due to electricity supply problems.

Cancellations so far due to Covid, snow, heavy rain, power cuts... what will this season serve up next? Carlisle U. Official Twitter has footage of manager Chris Beech being interviewed in the dark!

Paul Davis (Advertiser) Twitter - Mickel Miller has gone on loan to Northampton Town. Never been entirely clear whether is is a winger, midfielder, a forward or what.
Warney says he is still part of future plans though.

Press statement from EFL - next three Carlisle U. games have been postponed due to Covid problems. Threrefore Joshua Kayode won't be in action for Carlisle until after 24/01/21.

Also rumour on another Millers website that Vassell is going out on loan. No idea if that is correct
