Match Thread: Lincoln City v Portsmouth

Raggett was a non-league clogger who couldn't get a game at Norwich, whereas Shackell has played in the Prem and Championship for most of his career. It should be the other way round and I'd still be very surprised if Raggs is any better at knocking it about at the back. Always struck me as a fairly limited "footballer" as centre halves go.

Yet he has mopped up our play like he was in his deck chair on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

They were decent. A decent away performance. A play off team. We were dog. Did we have a shot on target?

16 games is it to get at least a further 13 points, on this showing we will be lucky to get another 3 points. Too many changes, too much reliance on 'experienced' players at the back, and too much FUCKING AROUND AT THE BACK!!!

Absolute rubbish several players just not good enough to play a passing game from the back, the distribution of both Shackell and Bolger is absolute dreadful, it beggars belief after what had gone before that Bolger tried to beat their forward at the end.

Melbourne is definitely not a replacement for Toffolo we must have better, we managed to create one chance in ninety minutes at home.

Crowds will drop playing rubbish like that and Portsmouth were not that good a team.

Not a good result, nor a good game...

Hopefully, lessons learned and we go again on Saturday....

Come on you Imps!!!!!!©

That’s the spirit, onwards and upwards!

Prior to the Ipswich game we were on a great run. Being beaten by Ipswich and Portsmouth represents the level we should be at in our first season in league one if we’re being honest with ourselves. We’ve been spoilt by some extraordinary results over the last few seasons. Hopefully we’re using this season as a learning experience.

Perspective needed. Pompey huge club for this level, in great form , one of the promotion favourites. It's not like we are playing Ebbsfleet
The ‘name’ and ‘size’ of club has little to do with it, it’s 11v11 on the pitch, and they have poor away form. They had a game plan and stuck to it well, waiting for us to self destruct, which we did. We couldn’t break them down. Couldn’t even pass the ball. Lots for MA to think about.

Not a good night, but i think we were just up against a better team. We looked poor at the back and up front, our midfield battled well although outnumbered. We can't win them all, and we have found our level. Perhaps we are slightly in transition with a few new faces.
One thing for sure though, these last 2 games show we aint going up.
