The word scallion comes from the Greek askolonion, which refers to the ancient Palestinian port of Ashqelon, then considered the home of the onion. We now know that onions are native to central Asia, but the name stuck.

I've heard people calling them scallions but, before today, I'd would have struggled to tell you what a scallion was.

That just proves that if you spend 20 years on Vital Villa, you just might learn something.
 
Morning all. 08.57 and the scammers have already phoned twice. Not heard from them for a couple of weeks so thought they had gone away, seems not.

It got so bad on the BT landline this year that in a fit of temper I smashed the handset.
However it has done the trick.
If anyone wants me its mobile or nothing.
BT do not take this problem seriously enough.
