Europe In Out Shake it all about

What a fucking hypocrite. Hope he enjoys his return to the cold of England. Pratt. how the hell do these people square up doing what they want, and yet wanted to take that right away from others?

Playing devil's advocate, he was told that by voting for Brexit he could have his cake and eat it. That the EU needed the UK and that they would be forced to give the UK a good deal (some kind of special treatment above what the members get). Britain would also use all of the money it used to send to the EU for the NHS. That even got written on a bus.

All of those lies have proved to be lies. All of what was written off as Project Fear has come to pass except for things like food shortages which were only averted by a lot of long hours at the EU.

None of those ***** who lied constantly about what Brexit was or what it could achieve will be held accountable and those muppets like Shaun Cromber will pay the price for believing those lies.

Note your points, keep mine, Brit abroad, I'm ok, fuck everyone else is my read.

The most ridiculous one though, I mentioned a good few pages back, an exporter of eels, voted leave, didn't realise it would lead to his company going bust. Idiotic.

I'm fucking sick and tired of Brexit. I have a lot of accounts in Ireland and it's an absolute nightmare getting stuff to there to the point that I'm turning business down.

My boss has pretty much been working full time on getting certificates and codes, luckily she hasn’t delegated all that shit to me. We’re a commercial not operational function too, but someone needs to do it. Creates an industry though for companies to specialise in bureaucratic paperwork though I guess.

We have stopped selling certain products to certain customers though because it isn’t worth the time.

I'm not disagreeing that he's a twat. Lol

I’m at risk of boring you all with a repetitive post, but my old neighbours who live in Spain are having a torrid time with all the inconvenience. It’s brilliant! They are angry and admit they were lied to.

And that’s before their £100k property in Spain - of which they have two - crashes in value as the next generation of Brits can’t buy there.

You couldn’t make it up! One half is Irish though so she has an Irish passport (I suspect) she can travel on, annoys me that she was able to vote knowing she is almost immune from the travel problem.

As you say, you couldn't make it up. Were they the sort that were dismissive of any remain arguments? Hope so!

I just don't get some of the people who voted leave (for the avoidance of doubt, not ALL people, even though it wasn't the way my vote went) as surely they would look at what was in their own interests as opposed to the bigger picture?

I find it all ludicrous but then I had no faith in the people doing this, to do it correctly so even if I had wanted out, I would have been dubious.

He’s an elderly ex copper, he had some valid arguments - mainly around bringing back control of laws from Brussels, rather than just being an anti immigrant. Couldn’t give you one EU law he didn’t like obviously, no brexiteer can.

She’s just a puppet.

Is this story really true, I wonder?
Still, it's a great story.
I'm looking forward to Channel 4 putting on an afternoon series called "A Place In The Rain" where Spanish returnees, Dylan and Myrtle, are seen stumbling round a windswept apartment block in Quarry Bank.

They will just make more Escape to the Country 😏

The only expats abroad I have any sympathy with are the remainers.

Mind you, of those I know and of I gather they all started the process for the country they live in residency ages ago to be on the safe side so probably very few who have had to return of those as they prepared and the Brexiteers didn't

I didn't realise until probably a year or so ago that the NFU advised the farmers to vote remain. Many ignored it

I feel for those who have lost there businesses who voted remain. There are many of them

I'm watching a fascinating video of Yuval Harari talking about Sapiens.

One striking thing he says is that the difference between humans and animals is that we can create fiction and have our society buy into that fiction. Things like money, companies, borders are all human creations. Religion and nationhood are two of the most powerful fictions.

After WW2, Europe realised that it needed a new narrative to stop the continent going to war every 20 years. The idea of being European and the EU was born out of that. Previously, a Frenchman would have told you that the polar opposite of French was German. Now they were both European.

Britain never fully bought into that idea. Britain still (barely) had its empire and the fiction of the greatest generation was developed to help the nation cope with the tragedy of losing the greatest empire the world had ever seen.

The one thing that the EU lacks is a coherent vision for the future. It's primarily concerned with keeping Europe in the running with China and the US rather than working towards something bigger. Perhaps the EU is scares of those grandiose visions after the last fella who had a vision for Europe.
