Perhaps the intention was to give him the rest of 2019-20 to prove himself, with contract negotiations to take place this summer. That obviously was not possible with the premature end to the season. It could be a problem if he starts next season well.

Yes, quite possibly. The few outings he did get were very positive I would say, but probably not enough to make any decisions on. Hopefully we don't have any problems along those lines - i.e. he does get off to a good start but nobody notices!
 
Not many gaps to plug once you get in a couple of goalkeepers.

If we can re-sign Bostwick and get in competition for right back the defence is sorted

if Bradley and Payne go we need to replace otherwise 5 is ok for CM.

We need a couple of wingers for competition and a striker
 
I really cannot see Coker, Bradley and Adebayo-Smith getting much game time next season, and Payne is obviously an unknown quantity too. If budgets are to be as constrained as we believe, there will be no room for passengers in the squad. Therefore, I can see some departures before we are done. That leaves us with 11 viable first team players, so lots of work to be done yet.

Interestingly, Lewis Montsma said he signed a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if we have any more in the pipeline like that?
 
Chapman still considering his contract offer, apparently. I have excluded him from the squad list because he is not under contract at present.
 
Bradley is a strange one. Does Appleton think he is worth keeping on to develop? He seems to have done well at Harrogate, but that's a long way from League One.
 
There's potential with Bradley. Did okay in League 1 whilst on loan at Burton and well at Harrogate at a lower level.
One worth seeing if he's got it at our level or should Harrogate get into L2 he might get us a few quid via a transfer to them

We’re starting to make Bolton’s team from the start of last season look experienced!
 
There is certainly no obvious leader there. We need a Bridcutt to captain the side through experience and example.

On that current list the Captain could easily be Jorge Grant now. I'd expect someone like Bridcutt to come in before kick off
 
MA did say some better experienced players would become available in The Summer and he would be looking to sign some. That is probably even more relevant with Covid and don't forget the Championship only finished yesterday so retained lists at that level won't have been circulated just yet.
