Coronavirus

In some ways starchild what you describe is a bigger worry than virus itself, but in a sense, we have to worry about that later.

If there's a positive to take from your words - at least it seems the vast majority are following the advice, and if that's true of all areas, despite the pause/knock we'll still take, that scenario hopefully won't happen because we buy the time necessary and (poor choice of words maybe) the uninfected can limp business over and then be replaced by the infected who recover as we truly build a herd immunity.

Given all the conspiracy theories doing the rounds, at least the Devil is up shit creek for a bit.

Tasmania, south of the Australian mainland, has announced a state of emergency and a mandatory quarantine on arrivals to prevent the spread of the virus.

If he can't go home, he has to place nice with his new neighbours surely. Afterall, you don't shit on your own doorstep.

I can put some porn on in a minute as the missus has just gone to bed, but before she did she showed me the 'debate' on our local schools FB page.

Some don't believe sending the kids in for the rest of the week makes any sense given the 'risk to the kids' whilst completely missing the fact I assume online tutoring will be explained and offered/or homework set and they will need the information (even though kids aren't an at risk issue).

Parents saying the kids are going in as even if they catch it it won't bother them, we'll just be sensible with grandparents - appear to be reported to social services.

And one does have a child at potential risk and they are being kept off understandably in light of today's developments. But they are sending the sibling in as I can only assume they think Covid-19 discriminates?

I may have identified the parents in my area who have nicked all the bog roll.

Can we put the animals in charge please, I worry about humans.

One of the things I'm worried about is that now I can't continue trying to chat up the new colleague at our place who I like. Was hoping that with a bit more time she'd see how amazing I am and agree to a date. Coronavirus had other ideas. Didn't even have the chance to get her number before social isolation kicked in, and she'll probably have pulled by the time we go back. Ah well, I hope there's plenty more fish in the sea!

Turn up at her door and ask if she'd like to be infected mate. You might need to pleasure the HR department to get her address - but desperate measures call for desperate actions.

When I first read that I thought you said 'pressure' - but I guess in this case they're both the same thing!

Well Miss Sir Dennis is back working in A & E today after a week off.

I must admit I am worried , not that she may catch it , but because of the pressure hospital staff are going to be under.

The greatest respect to all that work in that profession.

Now that's a key worker, the utmost respect for her mate .
Times like this make me wish I'd done a vital job

We appear to be some days behind Italy (about 13) in terms of infection so I've attempted to align the two sets of figures at the 16th for the UK and the 3rd for Italy. As of 2 days ago 694 deaths were recorded in Italy. We'll see where we are in comparison in 13 days' time.

From what I know you cannot just copy/paste the two countries. There were big issues around how Italy responded to the virus initially. From only testing people traveling back from China, not testing people with pheumonia (sp) and the issue we all have with people obeying the rules. Their hospitals are now unable to cope. The underlying strategy of the UK is to try and flatten the curve in order that the NHS can cope

Yes, what EU it's every man for themselves by the look of it.

Which is actually a good thing, or the UK will be bailing out half of Europe, but charity begins at home in situations like this.

We’ll have kids and families going hungry, I think this recession is different to 2008 in many ways, this is a cash-spending recession which hits the front line, and those in the leisure, tourism and hospitality industries along with retail industries which are “lower skilled” (can’t think of the new PC word for it)

Minimum wage is the PC term Dan .

To be fair, my pops (granddad) was a greengrocer, he knew everyone in the area, didn't at any time make him any better informed though. All just whisper and gossip.

Yep completely agree, just Chinese whispers repeating what other people have said. In terms of the trend in how far behind Italy and Spain we are, it makes logical sense though for a lockdown.

The police and army won’t know until the moment they are deployed, unless they put 2 and 2 together they are being told to go to certain places. I can’t see a situation where the army are on the streets by the way but you never know, perhaps helping with delivers and aid but enforcement?
