The Owners & CEO Thread

But at least we're on it. Not in our wildest dreams 3 or 4 years ago, even 18 months back.
Exactly, but I feel that sometimes expressions on here and other places don't recognise the journey we are on.

Unai Emery has almost made a rod for his own back with exceptional results and the clamour from some sections of the fan base will demand excessive spending. Twas always thus, but for me, competing for CL qualification is a minor miracle in itself. Even if we finish 6th and qualify for Europa, it will be another step in the right direction but some will see that as failure given our lofty position now.

Let's imagine finishing 4th and qualifying for CL, what kind of investment is required to reach the knockout stages, while still competing on all domestic fronts - Newcastle have found it extremely difficult to back up last season in spite of significant money thrown at the problem. It'll be a nice problem to have, but would we be setting ourselves up for failure and a step backwards in our journey towards sustainably being in the top 6 (or higher).

must be one of those billionaires not investing to make money - hmmm.

He's jiggering about with his main business - clearly freeing up a bit of cash for the new club shop and another badge.

supposedly some linkup with Gais in Sweden in the offing as well (which is all very lgbtq+)

We have to be worth 1 billion now. Surely. Doesnt villa own lots of land also? Or was that sold to pay off our shit from previous owners.

I could have imagined it but I am sure we owned a fair bit.

I love these owners, they are business men of course but they seem to get us, especially Nas (I'm sure Wes is great but we tend to hear more from Nas don't we)... it would be fair enough for there to be some general cynicism around ownership considering what we've been through but they've not given me any reason to doubt them. I'm so glad we're not owned by oil / a state, I'd honestly rather be a bit less good than have that at our club. Even the stuff around the commercialisation of certain things, I don't blame them, I don't particularly love it but can see why we need to try to do it... you stand still you go backwards and all of that. The rules are so dumb. Imagine we had these guys come in instead of Lerner.... doubt we end up relegated.

Agree.

With Man City around any owners are really up against. These guys rescued us from oblivion - and still underwrite the club for millions each month.
I'd love to a multi million pound influx of talent - as would most of us - but if that cant be done for whatever reasons - that's ok by me.

I think we need to milk them for as much as possible, especially on the infrastructure of the club, which will see us ok long after they decide to leave. Sorry, but they are in their 60s and might want to take a backseat in the next 10 years.

Estimated fortune close to £7bn now for Sawaris - it could be true about him saying he doesn’t invest in football to make money - looks like his other investments are doing just dandy
