Coronavirus vaccine

If youi read what government ministers are saying in detail, rather than headlines, it's apparent that they are coinvinced of the need for co-operation. They are aware that vaccines will be sent abroad once our vulnerable groups are covered. Logical but credit where credit is due. It's some of the public and the press, who enjoy the drumbeat and politicians like to appear to march with it.

We seem to forget that once all of the vulnerable groups being vaccinated now will need the same thing again taking the same amount of time effort and vaccine vials. Surely this means that there is a chance the rest of the population will not be vaccinated automatically. There is a checkpoint review to decide this in march i believe.

I see Shotsy will be disappointed, as they have cancelled the Devon and Cornwall music festival. Not covid related, just that they couldn't decide who to put on first, Cream or The Jam...
I heard it's because they couldn't get the Wurzels so thought there was no point going ahead.

There is/was a festival down here called Pigstock which is a showcase for local bands.
Obviously top of the bill is The Wurzels and Jethro 😂

That’s not a wind up by the way.
It’s all true.
We went a couple of years back and it was great, I think.
I ended up seriously pissed on cider.
Luckily a friends wife drove who doesn’t drink.
We probably enjoyed it more than she did but there was a few good local bands.
I do remember a girl singer called Yazzy or something who got it all jumping.

Interesting that all covid success by this government have been where socialist gov organisations and volunteers were running things - nhs and armed services lol.
Private sector cronyism and gov ministers not so much.
Even the vaccine discovery was financed by government and charities.

I've just read an article about the relative tightness and losseness of societies and the effect that has had on the fight against Covid. It doesn't support or oppose any particular angle (Nobby might feel a little vindicated ;)) I thought it interesting. Might influence our thinking in the future?

Let us know which sources we can use that tell the truth or have valid arguments then Jerry. The rest of us seem to be permanently duped.

As someone who voted against leaving the EU I'm quite comfortable agreeing that the UK is handling the vaccination of it's population far better than the EU.
Just as I would hope those who voted to leave would agree that UK Import/Export business is having an extremely rough time coping with the new layers of expensive bureaucracy required to trade with their biggest market.

Read the Guardian and then read the same thing in the Daily Mail
Watch a news story on CNN and then watch the same story on Fox.
Go online and look up the full videos of things reported in the news and not trust the clip shown on TV shows the full and accurate truth of what happened.
Watch a few independent journalist who aren't bound by the rules of the editor as to what they are allowed to print.

Basically don't trust the main stream media who have their own agendas. Seek the news from various sources on both sides of politics and then acknowledge the truth is likely to be somewhere in between. Use your brain and work out the truth based on the strength of arguments made on both sides.

The Guardian is as trustworthy on the left as The Daily Mail is on the right.

The Guardian is only truthful and reliable if it merely prints what you want to believe is true.

Much truth but I don't go with equivalence between publications. I'd accept stuff far more from some journalists than others and don't believe that they are all slaves to editorial direction. The Mail is a funny one because a lot of what it prints doesn't interest me much, a lot of twaddle irrespective of political slant. They can surprise with genuinely decent journalism and campaigning, sometimes against trends and their own perceived bias, Over the murder of Steven Lawrence most famously. I have no problem with quoting The Mail on occasion.

fishing lol -have not read a newspaper that I have paid for since at least 1978 and even at the height of the anti nazi league and miners strike I knew few who bought and then actually read the guardian as it was too hard going and liberal but looked good rolled up under your arm. Is it not now even more illiberal liberal anti socialist than ever or has it improved.

I did obviously read the free papers on the train every day to pass the time when not reading a book. Also will read any newspapers football pages if someone leaves their paper on the train.

have had too much false information in papers over the years. when grain power station was started I was shop steward for the site for a short period and was constantly reading that we were on strike etc when nothing was happening. Countless anti fascist marches were grossly misreported and dont start on the miners strike. All newspapers were in on the act (including the morning star lol).

But they are all untrustworthy according to Jerry so where do I go?
