I think it just goes to prove that migration actually can make a country more prosperous.I have spent a fair time in Switzerland over the last couple of decades. My wife has a long term friend who is Swiss. If fact my wife even speaks fluent Swiss German. Very similar to German I understand but there are many differences.Thought you were anti immigration ?

You do realise that we have unlimited migration to anywhere in the EU. Also unlimited and unrestricted job opportunities and settlement rights in all EU countries.
As you are aware, the vast majority of EU workers return home after a year or two here; many of those from other parts of the globe will see immigration as a way to settle permanently in the UK - kind of ironic. More come from outside the EU now btwNobody realistically wants nil immigration. That is as bad as the unlimited immigration we have at present from the EU which gives them an unfair advantage over the rest of the world.
Ultimately it comes down to the old misogynistic saying "give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, give a man a fishing rod and he can catch his own fish". Socialism is more about repeating the first part of the phrase while Tories are about trying to create conditions so everyone could get their hands on a fishing rod. Both sides care, but simply have different philosophy to deal with the issue.
The High Court will rule on itIs this poll advisory or legally binding?
Is this poll advisory or legally binding?
How? by increasing the higher rate taxpayer threshold from £50k to £80k as Boris suggests?
The way to protect the homeless poor and unemployed is to elect a proper non-Blairite Labour government but not enough people care enough to do so.
Can it be proved that Switzerland is more prosperous with immigration, than it would have been without?
I don't think the Swiss will tolerate laggards of any type. There's a joke in Switzerland that there is no hanging around in the Country until you get to the 'Italian' cantons.Might very well be that migrants are attracted to Switzerland because of its wealth rather than contributing to its wealth.
If that was the case there place at the top of the wealth league would be damaged.I thought the same.

It was probably the Italians that made the joke. There are quite a few 'Italians' in Milan with Swiss passports, who commute to the city daily. Traffic permtiing, I guess it's about an hour sort of via Malpensa.I lived & worked in Switzerland during the 1980s ( & speak 3 of their 4 languages).
It is, of course, a very expensive country to visit; but if you are living there legally, it can be a very good place to be. However, the Swiss are generally super strict & unless things have changed, people working "on the black" don't get away with it for very long.
btw Wayne, there is only one Italian speaking canton in Switzerland - Tessin (Ticino) & I never heard that joke of yours before ?! .....
That says that 60%, when asked, didn't say that they specifically want yet another referendum.
So, what's the point?
