Ok I’ve had two days now, and have read through all of the posts on here. I’ve resisted responding to each one, so I’ll just give my general thoughts.
1. We are not unfit, and running suicides at BMH will not make us better or fitter. Those techniques worked in the 1980’s but techniques and science have come a long way since then. We faded in the match because Spurs passed us to death.
2. The foul on McGinn was a stonewall penalty.
3. The new signings that played have zero minutes of experience in the premier league and to expect them to play at that level immediately is just nonsense... Hence..
4. Guilbert has bags of potential and is the future, BUT, as I alluded to in the preseason friendlies thread, he was caught horribly out of position defensively on numerous occasions against lower league teams. Elmo was the sensible option.
5. Taylor was excellent, and to suggest Target should play just because he is a new signing, is farcical. Competition for every place and may the best man win.
6. Jack looked a little overawed. I’m sure he’ll improve.
7. The tackle on Jack for the second goal would have been given as a foul if it had been at the other end. The way the ball found its way to Kane subsequently was very very fortunate.
8. Having said that, Spurs won fair and square. No complaints from me.
9. Anyone suggesting that Bournemouth will/should be a walk in the park is delusional. We are talking about an extremely well-coached and established premier league team who’s centre forward was among the top ten scorers in the league last year.
10. Tom Heaton, Mings, Engels and McGinn all look very comfortable at this level. Heaton does need to work on his kicking though. I counted four times when he just kicked it straight out of play.
11. Patience is needed. I remain a happy clapper with rose tinted glasses.
