Weekly THFC Football Operation Meeting Minutes

Weekly THFC Football Operation Meeting Minutes

Date: Friday, 3rd September 2021 10am

Attendees:
Daniel Levy, Fabio Patricio, Nuno Espirito-Santo, Ryan Mason, Steve Hitchen, Ledley King

Minutes of the meeting:
Before the meeting formally started, Steve mentioned that Fabio had left to see family in Italy after transfer deadline day. They would need to dial him in from his apartment in Turin. Steve asked whether anyone knew how to do that. Blank faces. Ryan asked if anyone had setup a Zoom call in advance of the meeting. More blank faces. As the only one with a laptop was Daniel, Ryan asked if he could borrow it and set up a link.

Daniel said he just needed to close a few windows, but we could all see that he was deleting his internet browsing history and clearing caches and cookies before giving his laptop to Ryan.

Meeting formally commenced 10:15am after Ryan finally figured how to unmute Fabio. Nuno joked that Fabio should come with a mute button anyway.

First Team Matches
Nuno was commended for another fine 1-0 win against Watford in the league, leaving Spurs top of the Premier League going into the international break. The Lodge and Lilywhite House had been decorated with printouts of the entire league table with every door and window covered in them.

As for the Watford game itself, Nuno had restored Kane to the league side at the expense of Lucas. Unfortunately, history had repeated itself with Kane doing his best impression of a sloth in a football kit. At least we won this time though. Following the game, Moura had been cheering himself up by jumping out on kids and their families whilst on their stadium tours.

Transfer Activity
The big news of the week was the signing of Emerson from Barcelona and the termination of Aurier’s contract.

After his impressive cameo against Pacos, J’Neill Bennett had been sent out on loan to Crewe. Fabio and Dario are long term friends with “family connections”.

Carter-Vickers had also gone to Celtic, now on his 7th loan. 2 more to go to equal Andros Townsend’s record. Joe Hart gave him a heartfelt welcome, especially after watching Carl Starfelt play in front of him against Hearts.

Focusing on Emerson, Fabio said that he reminded him a lot of Maicon in the way he played. Ledley mentioned that his mate Gareth Bale didn’t rate Maicon, and hoped Emerson played more like Cafu or Alves. Fabio went on to say that the reason he is called “Emerson Royal” is because he is named after the Royal branded gelatin dessert sold in Brazil.

Aurier was looking very chirpy as he cleared out his locker on Tuesday. Fabio explained that whilst Danny Rose had been an amazing mentor to the academy in the last year, it was felt that Serge would not have the same impact if we kept him. We don’t need our kids learning how to give away stupid free-kicks, sprint forward and walk back whilst failing to complete their straightforward 10-yard passes. Therefore, the decision was made by Fabio to set him free from his contract.

Fabio asked what had happened with Tanguy since deadline day. Daniel jumped in and said that he was more than happy to sit down with him again as it really helped last time. Nuno declined, and said that whilst most of his squad were away on international duty, he would ensure that he had a breakfast catch-up with Tanguy. He’ll ensure that the cafeteria serve African porridge on that day and see if could get his head back in the game.

The International Break
A lot of our players are involved at the various age groups in the forthcoming round of international fixtures. Some have already played in the weekday fixtures. Nuno shared his enthusiasm that a lot of his players are asked to play out of position which will help Spurs in the long term. Doherty ended up in left midfield, whilst Hojbjerg has taken Eriksen’s creative role in the Denmark side. Both did well. Maxim Paskotsi has offered to play up front for Estonia against Northern Ireland on Wednesday. He thinks he can solve a problem for club and country.

Nuno asked whether the club were confident in getting Gio and Romero back after the game in Brazil. Apparently, the club had brokered a deal that they could get both back in time for 2 days quarantine and be available for our next league game. Everyone agreed that there would be no problems as FIFA had left no stone unturned in understanding all of the COVID protocols in each country.

Any Other Business

Fire at the Stadium
It was decided that the stewards should be more careful when they smoke the cigars that Davinson brings back from Colombia. They might look like they are out, but they clearly aren’t. Fortunately, after the amount of electrical issues the club had building the new stadium, Daniel had insisted that there were at least 10 fire extinguishers in each zone.

Meeting concluded 11:20am

Always brilliant. Love the bit about Daniel doing a 'clean up' job before handing over his PC.

You've outdone yourself muttley. LOL a few times with this one - absolutely brilliant!!

Keep it up.

I'm still chuckling!
I'd say Ryan is wasted at Spurs, unless his role is 15 mins weekly IT fixes!

It'd be good to know who translated the Covid travel rules!

Weekly THFC Football Operation Meeting Minutes

Date: Friday, 10th September 2021 10am

Attendees:
Daniel Levy, Fabio Patricio, Nuno Espirito-Santo, Ryan Mason, Steve Hitchen, Ledley King

Meeting commenced 10am

Minutes of the meeting:
As the meeting started, everyone congratulated Nuno on his Manager of the Month award. Nuno said that it was an entire club effort and that he’s confident we will continue the form as we head into September, starting against Palace.

First Team Matches
With the international break underway, Nuno had no 1st team matches to report. He mentioned that a few of the younger players had been training with the 1st team to make up the numbers. He said that he thought Michael Craig had been everywhere in one of the practice matches only to realise that both the twins were on the same side. All the English boys stayed at The Lodge on Wednesday night to watch the Poland match, away from the wives and kids. Ryan and Ledley stayed with them to make sure no beers were smuggled in. Ryan mentioned that at one point they were all having a huge debate about Harry’s work rate after Dele had screamed at the TV “you lazy bastard”.

The International Break
Daniel asked Fabio what exactly had happened and why 3 of our players were staying at renowned playboy, Vedran Corluka’s ocean villa in Croatia. They had been sending photo’s back to The Lodge with them poolside surrounded by bikini clad women, drinking Rakija.

Fabio said that in his opinion Infantino and FIFA were acting like children and we shouldn’t blame the players. FIFA are clearly trying to blame everyone but themselves for creating this mess. He advised that in October, we should lock the South Americans in The Lodge until their flights have left, and then publish an article on the official website that a nasty bout of Norovirus had hit the club.

Nuno was disappointed that the 3 of them decided to go, but even more frustrated that Son, Bergwijn, Skipp and Sess had got injured. He could be without 7 of his 1st team squad for the Palace game. However, he was confident that Hojbjerg’s attacking prowess, Moura and Dele’s ability to break teams down with Kane’s finishing could get the job done.

Everyone agreed that FIFA wouldn’t have the minerals to stop the rest of the South American players playing in the Premier League this weekend.

Any Other Business

Daniel Levy joining ECA
Daniel mentioned that he would be replacing Ed Woodward as the Premier League representative on the European Club Association (ECA). He had also volunteered to be the ECA representative on UEFA’s Professional Football Strategy Council but had failed to get the job. Apparently, as part of the entry criteria you have to share in detail what your club’s football philosophy, formation and tactics are. Daniel didn’t know the answer to that.

Meeting concluded 10:45am

Date: Friday, 17th September 2021 10am

Attendees:
Daniel Levy, Fabio Patricio, Nuno Espirito-Santo, Ryan Mason, Steve Hitchen, Ledley King

Despite still being in his previous meeting, Daniel invited everyone into the meeting room anyway. He said he was chatting to an old familiar face on his video conferencing unit which turned out to be Mauricio. Apparently, after both Spurs and PSG won their first 3 league games, the good friends decided to have a “virtual” coffee and catchup. As we joined the room, Poch was telling Daniel how much fun it is to have players like Messi, Neymar and Mbappe in his team. As the call ended, Poch said he was looking forward to seeing everyone soon, and perhaps next time it can be face-to-face over dinner in London.

Meeting formally commenced 10:10am

Minutes of the meeting:

First Team Matches
Nuno explained that the Palace 3-0 loss had been the perfect storm for the club but was pleased that the squad were “working hard”. With the 3 South Americans still at Corluka’s oceanside pad in Croatia, he’d also lost others to injuries and had to put a makeshift side together. That included a Spurs debut for Emerson Royal. Fabio asked why the team had performed so badly. Nuno said that it was hard playing with 10 men for 58 mins and even harder when Tanganga got sent off. Ledley said that he had spent some time with Japhet after the match to help him cope with his sending off and get his head back fully focused. He fully understands that it is OK taking a tactical red card, but you must ensure that it is worth it. Next time, Japhet promised to properly slipper the player, so they also have to leave the field of play as well.

As for Thursday’s match against Rennes, Nuno mentioned that the 2-2 wasn’t his team’s best performance, but we have now got the hardest away match out of the way in the ECL. Unfortunately, the squad had picked up another couple of injuries with both Bergwijn and Moura hobbling off injured. Daniel mentioned that when he had seen the Moura injury, he had notified the marketing department that their favourite mascot would be available for some more sponsor promotional videos whilst recuperating. Back to the game, Nuno mentioned that he was glad to have Tanguy back on the pitch and was pleased that he got through 80 minutes. That already makes him more durable than Gio.

Daniel mentioned that it would be great to come second in the ECL group, so we get an extra home game this season at our new stadium. Finishing top would mean missing out on this revenue opportunity. Nuno nodded like a man that knows the clear objectives of his role.

Looking ahead to the Chelsea game, Nuno said he was looking forward to getting the 3 South Americans back for the Saturday training session. After that, he will decide what his best eleven will be for the game. Fabio mentioned that at Juventus they would surprise their biggest rivals by playing 5 attackers and only one holding midfielder. He said they would often put Ronaldo in a deep lying left midfield spot to confuse the opposition. It always worked apparently.

Any Other Business

Kateitis
Nuno mentioned that the medical team had informed him that our “loose in the saddle” striker Kane suffers from a rare condition called “Kateitis”. He said that the easiest way to explain it is where you have a fat bloke in a thin bloke’s body. It creates the illusion that the player should be running about 20% more than he does because of his physique. However, his brain is sending signals to his body that he’s 10 stone heavier than he is which informs his legs to conserve energy.

Daniel asked whether there is any cure for it. Fabio suggested that no medical given by any other club would ever detect Kateitis and that the chairman should take any offer he can for him in January.
