The Old But All New Under 23 Thread

There’s been plenty to be proud of this season for our Young Lions but, unfortunately, their final game of the Premier League 2 campaign saw defeat in the Play-Off Final.

From the high of the Premier League Cup Final win at Swansea, there was the low of the loss to Brighton here at Villa Park.

Failed at the final hurdle sadly, but what a season. Great credit and hopefully, they'll be stringer for the experience and go one better next time out.

Watched most of the match. Think the better team won. BHA coped with our attacks pretty well and their attacks were decisive. They looked physically stronger; I wonder how the ages of the two teams worked out.

Having said that, all credit to the U23s for a very good season where they've really put in a stint in every match.

Best team won yesterday. My lad was out last night and chatting to one of the lads who played yesterday, apparently quite a few of them will be loaned out and know it so they weren't up for it yesterday.

There's a good video of Callum O'Hare's rehab on the Villa club site:

I've got a lot of time for this kid. He looks small, but compact might be a better word. Solid, and can go 90 minutes with no trouble.

Great skills and great attitude. No accident he gets made the U23 captain; has leader written all over him.

Hope he gets his chance with us.

Our U23s are playing Fulham at Villa Park today (Ipm kick off).

Would it be a good ideal to give Yannick Bolasie some time in this match to help him build his match fitness. I feel it would.

He’s got no chance, none of them have with you know who in charge. Would rather blood other peoples youngsters

Good win by the U23s away at Middlesbrough today..... 2-1. Dom Revan & a Callum O'Hare penalty (which he won himself) with the goals.
