The Morgan Sanson Thread

I’ve always like Sanson as a player from the first time I saw him play and every time since I’ve seen him play, but the frustration is a good 60 minutes of football here and there followed by six weeks out for one reason or another. A lot of people doubted him on here as a player I thought unfairly, but it shouldn’t have been his ability in doubt more his application.

He needs to knuckle down and focus on being fit and available week in, week out. I wasn’t sure his head was completely with succeeding here, but he can prove me wrong between now and May by racking up plenty of games.

He really will feel like a new signing if he plays in 15+ games in half two of the season.

I feel that him, Ramsey, Doug and Luiz are all good all round players rather than purely attacking or defensive midfielders. All can pass, tackle, run with the ball and create. With Nakamba out I feel we probably do need 1 more to keep the competition up, especially as I believe Gerrard will play Ramsey further forward more in the future.

I'd bring McGinn back in for Buendia and push Ramsey further forwards, Sanson looks a proper player

100 percent.

But you have to get people to realise first that what we get and have got so far is all we will ever have with Buendia. This is it...as the song goes. And it's not good enough to improve us.

I agree I think all of them fall within 10% of the average of their abilities. Except Marv who is far more of a specialist than the rest. For me there is no doubt he is the stronger and harder tackler as well as the better interceptor of passes. He is defensively head and shoulders above the closest contender in Luis. That’s all mitigated by not being a strong runner and a slightly more limited range of passing. The latter is not me being negative I’m happy to see him keep it short and simple.

I think everyone is forgetting about the other attacking spot. Ramsey AND Buendia should be in those advanced places. Buendia has set up 10 clear cut chances and we’ve only finished 2 of them.

Depends .I am not sure but if Ramsey played against Norwich where he played today then he 100 percent needs to stay where he is. Great goal v Norwich and today for a kid he didn't look out of place on the same pitch as the European champions. No way should we move Ramsey to accommodate Buendia.

SJM will start if fit . Marv would aswell so there is, on current and season form, one player to make way and that's Buendia all day long.

I get what you’re saying and in that case I’d agree. However with Marv out we can fit sanson, McGinn, Ramsey and Buendia on the pitch together. I also think Buendia would benefit from that team setup.

Ultimately we’re going to struggle if Watkins can’t pick up his performances and Ings continues to be anonymous. We can’t play both of them first off and whoever does play has to play better. Watkins was great vs. City I can’t understand how every game he’s had the first touch of a brick wall.

Buendia would benefit from another spell on the bench , for me drives me to distraction with his fancy flicks and losing the ball just at the vital moments. We have better players than him

I’ve posted a few times before, I wish he’d play a simple game when he’s in the middle third of the pitch. Get the ball with one touch, move it on with another the way he’s facing, advance ten yards and pick it up again.

Do the flicks and tricks in the final third or when you’re 3-0 up.

I do think he’s a talent and the narrow front 3 suits him down to the ground, so it’s a shame if he ends up being wasted here. I think he needs coaching on how to perform regularly in this league as he’s getting caught on the ball several times every week and it’s all I remember of his performance some weeks.

No No he's he started on the right and never spent a single minute they yesterday wan we eventually had Ings having to drop to the right because the little shunt keeps going into the middle which left Rudiger all the time and space to feed Alonso all the first half Cash was exposed .

Buendia doesn't it a 433 at all , no positional discipline and he isn't good enough on the ball to have that free role.
Yes there is talent there but ...........

Let me clarify, not a high and wide from 3, more of a 4-3-2-1 version where he’s close the the striker and midfield. I thought first half we moved as a unit quite well which allowed us to press more effectively, but second half we just stopped everything we did well. Perhaps it was the level of the opposition and so we don’t need to be too downbeat about it.

Sanson , Luiz, Ramsey were great first half in the unit. Buendia was anonymous again.
