The Conor Hourihane Thread

Conor Hourihane's relative merits as a player at Aston Villa have long been debated. What isn't up for debate is the massive part he played in helping the club to turn its fortunes around and not only return to the Premier League, but also stay there and help lay the foundations for how we have kicked on during the 2020/21 campaign.

Very honest comments by Connor. I remember once he came on as sub when we were losing and there was an audible groan around the ground and I had a moan to those around me. Within ten minutes he’d put the ball in the back of the net and the stick I got from airing my earlier opinion! Deservedly so, who’d be a manager?

I like Conor, but the fact he is doing so well at the moment suggests he has found his level.
Best of luck to you mate.

How much is Conor worth now? One of those rare occasions when we are likely to make a profit on a player having had a few good years off him.

Signed for £3.5m all in.....we've got to at least break even as a minimum - which would be a change for us!

Story just popped up in my news feed from 'Wales Online' talking about Conor Hourihane and his situation at Swansea. Fairly typical/mundane type of nonsense article. And then in the comments section below, a couple of posts from Swansea fans....

I agree with SideshowBob. He doesn’t contribute enough in open play. Makes token efforts at tracking back, always gives the easy ball when passing and doesn’t give any killer passes . He would be great if football was like the NFL and could bring on specialist teams he would be brought on then just for free kicks. Generally he has been disappointing I’m afraid

Lazy player, has the occasional moment of class with a cross or long range effort but never wants to get stuck in he is what you call a luxury player and battlers are what Swansea need to get through the playoffs.

Surprised by those quotes as whenever I've seen Swansea fans commenting about Hourihane they are full of praise for him. He could well have had a dip in form after his injury I suppose.
Anyway, I dont think there will be a shortage of offers for him in the Summer if we do move him on
