Summer 2013

Transfer windows should be abolished in my opinion ,, I don't see the point of them and they only serve to complicate matters .... no one uses them to advantage other than greedy agents who take great delight in using them to push their own selfish agendas as the countdown begins in earnest .... take a player with a year to run with their current club who can sign a freedom of contract in January then leave for free six months later ,, an offer comes in which is agreeable with both the buying and selling clubs ....... in steps the agent who declines the proposal out of hand right up to to the final days of the window then applies pressure to both clubs to give up a bit more of their respective slice of the cake ..... hey presto ...! we have a deal ....... that in my opinion is where we're at with this farce now & it's high time that these unscrupulous creatures are starved of the oxygen the transfer window affords them .

It's funny, I was wondering if we would replace Wilson with someone like Ciani that we were linked with last summer.....all of a sudden we are linked with him....I think it's a good move if we can do it. We all liked the look of him last summer but it just never materialised. Only 29 so still some good years left but he brings plenty of experience to a young and inexperienced defence!

Apparently also looking at Cameron Stewart from Hull. We've been linked with him before. Apparently he is not in Steve Bruce's plans and will be allowed to leave, 22 year old winger who came through the ranks at Man Utd before a few loan spells before signing permanently with Hull after a successful loan spell.

He's originally from Glasgow and despite representing England at youth level, would still be eligible for Scotland. I'm sure a move to us would appeal to him but I'm not sure he is right for us. If he's not cutting it at Hull, why would he be capable of kickstarting his career with us?

I'm sure he could hold his own in the SPL but certainly not in Europe.

McGeouch could be going out on loan with Ross County and Hibs leading the chase. I think McGeouch has a lot of talent but we're not seeing it often enough and in pre-season I thought he looked a bit reserved. I hope that a loan move to an SPL team would see him get plenty of first team football and help push him on to our first team.

My concern however, is that Forrest is apparently set to see a specialist about sciatica. From what I've read, if it doesn't go away itself, it could be really quite restricting to his play! We could do with back-up to him. It's a real shame if it is going to limit his ability on the pitch because as we know, when fit and in full flow......he's a top player! I would have thought McGeouch would be perfect back-up rather than bringing in someone like Stewart....but then I suppose we don't know how much McGeouch would play if he stayed and therefore it might just be best for him to go and get the first team football.

That's OK, WB. We didn't need a forward. We need to save about pounds 500,000 on the purchase of one. Shave every pound. Don't want to end up with the huns, do we?

We'll find out tomorrow who our new front ghuy is going to be and even when his identity is disclosed he'll need to make a few games before an opinion can be formed ....... the rumour mill is strongly suggesting that it's Pukki and he has an almost identical goals to game ratio as did Hooper but it's only conjecture at the minute ....

Don't you just love the transfer window ? had a look around and this is the latest developments allegedly ...... Pukki's agent insists his client wont be joining Celtic ........ Finbogosson's agent insists that his client has played his last match for his current employers ...... Barry Bannan being linked to us ,, as is John Guidettis most probably on loan as Stoke reportedly offered £5.5M for his services .....oh and Ki back on loan too :emoticon:10 :emoticon:10 :emoticon:10

Ki on loan to Sunderland apparently.......not us.

Barry Bannan could be a good back-up option in midfield, he's Scottish and he's talented on the ball and he's one of those players that's constantly improving the more he plays. I wouldn't say no to him although I wouldn't say he is exactly the player we need in midfield either.......his creativity could be a plus though......

John Guidetti would be good on loan! He's a top striker (hence the £5.5m offer from Stoke) despite having hardly played for Man City. I don't know why he hasn't been getting a chance at Man City or at least why they aren't letting him leave for £5.5m if they aren't going to play him....certainly wouldn't say no to him on loan though!

I'd be quite happy if it is in fact Pukki who is coming in.

I wonder if we are looking at Ciani or another defender to strengthen.

Ki out on loan? That's not good sign for him, but then I thought he was overpriced and overrated when we sold him. He didn't even regularly start for us, whereas Victor was always a front-line option.

Supposedly Ciani and Pukki are as good as done deals. I have no idea who the midfielder is, though.

Pukki has a pretty limited track record. I'm not sure how he merits pounds 3 million. Are you sure about this guy, Wee Od?

Agree his track record is limited but you also have to consider that he was behind Huntelaar & Raul in the pecking order for two years and interestingly had a better goals to game ratio than both ....... he will play for Shalke on Wednesday before any proposed transfer proceeds and even then " certain concrete pre arranged conditions will have to be met first " mmmmmmm :emoticon:69

It's not that Swansea don't want Ki.....he's just not an immediate starter as they have brought in a couple of new midfielders and pushed him out a little. Sunderland want him but don't want to buy him yet as I'm sure Swansea will make them pay quite highly!

As for Pukki......hell no I'm not sure! HAHA! He looks to be a talented player, he's been at a top quality club and learning from and playing with two top international quality strikers.
He's made 37 appearances in the Bundesliga, started only 7 games and has scored 8 goals in those 37 appearances. It works out a goal every 136 mins of play.

In total, including internationals and friendlies and cup games:

173 appearances
44 goals
20 assists
91 starts
31 full 90 mins
goal every 201 mins (or a little over a goal every 2 games)

So his stats don't look that good but I think what you might find is that we believe we would be taking him out of the shadow of Raul and Huntelaar and just about the right time. 23 years old, he has quality and knows where the goal is......now he can come and show how good he really is........

The midfielder is apparently Nir Biton. 21 year old Israeli international and was captain of club at age 19. I've posted about him for a few years now and believed he would be one to look at. Man City had him on trial and he played in their pre-season games but no deal was done. Same sort of deal as Ambrose, no deal was done in the end.

He apparently lost a bit of form on his return from Man City and doesn't appear to be captain anymore, however he is captain of the Israel U21s who he starred for and scored for at this year's European U21 Finals.
He's considered a defensive midfielder but with his height, skill and pace is also handy going forward.

Cardiff City get Finbogasson for ............ 10 MILLION EUROS ..... we we're never in it ......that's for sure . :emoticon:22

Sorry ,, my apologies ,, that was supposedly quoted directly from the Cardiff website and quite obviously wasn't ........ my fault as I should have checked first .... :emoticon:34 :emoticon:12 :emoticon:12 :emoticon:12

The Daily Mirror says Lenny is after Troy Deeney of Watford. He's a scoring machine. They want pounds 5 million, reportedly. That looks like a good buy to me. He has five goals in four games this year and scored 20 in 37 games last year, of which 30 were starts.

Nir Biton on a four year deal .... £800K with selling club Ashdod securing 20% of any future sale of the player ,, I believe this guy claimed Kayal's place in the Israel team ....... wouldn't take much to see history repeat it's self ....... he was on trial with Man City last year and only an injury kept him from accepting their invite back for a second spell ..... a creative midfielder ....... :emoticon:30 :emoticon:30 :emoticon:30 :emoticon:35

That's all fine. But I like this idea of Deeney and I'd like to see Ciani come in for central defense. Let's get it done!

Can't say I know either player, but we do need another striker and central defender. Deeney looks good on paper - let's get it done!
