So, whadda we gonna moan abart?

If you think it's bad now KDZ wait till it all dies down (next year ?) then we'll get the inevitable political witch hunt and endless calls for inquiries into the "mis-handling", just so people or parties can further their own political agenda's. Bloody hate politicians.

Started yesterday Arthur.....Lisa Nandy on the Andrew Marr started the blame gamefollowedby another Labour MP on the show that followed Marrs. As u say more hand wringing and blame in the coming months..

You see .....twitter can be a source of good for ridiculing stuff like this. The best bit is when the Dr laughs at 1 min 20 sec when Caprice argues her case because what she's read has come from a newspaper !

Caprice - a Greta Thunberg for the older gent.
Both got lots to say about everything.
Both know nothing (for sure) about anything.

Ignore and ignore 😉

The issue is all of the people talking shite accross the board will put doubt in some peoples mind and convince some folks the CSO and CMO strategy / future instructions are wrong and then potentially ignore it when they really need to listen.

Test. Test. Test says the WHO head. Maybe Cummings helped him with that.

Seems very odd health care professionals aren’t being tested in this country, even though I accept kits and processing ability is dictating this. If folk aren’t being tested in the UK it seems pointless issuing daily numbers.

Watching Johnson now, and I'll say this for him..... it's the most "Prime Ministerial" I've ever seen him.

Also, the fact that he's explaining what they're going to do now, and what they're going to do in the next few days, together with an explanation of why, makes total sense, (even if it is about bloody time).

He led the initial comms very well, but he'd now be better letting the two experts answer the questions. They've had to jump in a couple of times when I think they suspected he was going to "ad lib".

The pub is a strange one. It's not banned, but don't go !

I think this is pretty much the same as last one. It's just as informative but as the last one it could go over a lot of people's heads and not watched in full by everyone. I think this is fine but you still need to have a short simplified message shared in a different format to hit everyone to send out after.

The reason they won't ban things and just advise against it is purely down to the practicality of enforcement. At this time the last thing they need is to create more issues by forcing people unwilling to follow instructions to do as they are told. If people are hell bent on going out and socialising they will do it somewhere even if you shut the pubs and clubs they'll go round people's houses and get the beers in and it's the same risk if not arguably worse. So I think they will give the advise and then more fool the folks who won't do it.

I'm really worried for all the small businesses that could go under during this time. It's heartbreaking that people work their arses off to make their business work, employ people and through no fault of their own this could ruin them. This will be a tough time for lots of folks as it is, if you are also facing your job or business collapse simultaneously it's even worse. I'm glad there appears to be some thought going into this and possibly some type of liquidity and stimulus in the pipeline - there needs to be globally or we will face a huge recession.

I thought that it was much better than the previous ones. ......and certainly far better than articles behind firewalls ........from "sources". A lot more focus on the "why".

Johnson's performance deteriorated as the Q&A session went on though. HE should have stood back and directed the !s to Whitty and Vallance, who both instill way more confidence than the PM.

I think the issue is the media generally want to hear from the PM on subjects he isn't as familiar with as his CSO and CMO and if he just deferred to them on everything people would pull the 'he's not showing leadership we need to hear from the PM' or if he does talk 'he doesn't know what he's talking about let the experts speak. However he plays it he'll get stick so I think he trying to balance his approach.

I assume the gravity of the situation has sunk in.

Guess they are relying on folk adhering to medical advice. I suppose if they don’t all licences will be suspended and they’ll close them that way.

Do you really think so KDZ? That's quite a cynical view. Presumably, you think that the possibility of a gaffe motivates them more than getting the proper info. Actually, thinking about it, you may be right !

No, I disagree. The public want to be told stuff by someone they can trust. I don't think he'd get any stick for that.

Hell, even I praised him for the first part of the brief. It was only when he started to venture into the murky world of answering questions on subjects that he obviously had only a superficial knowledge that he started to revert to Boris the Buffoon.

I hope this isn't a cynical ploy by the Government. It seems that in New York, where they've closed down bars, restaurants, theatres, etc, they will all be able to claim on their insurance. However, here in the UK, with no such "official direction", that option won't be available.

Come on Boris. get it sorted.

Wow - having eventually jumped off the 🤡 out fence (though now back on it) and called for his removal Moonay now comes out in support of Boris - who'd av thunk it ? 😉
Be admitting he was wrong on brexit if this carries on 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

:wagging: :shake:

I think you;ll find Hampton that I gave him credit for one simple little task. He had to read summat ........ but, he read it well. (In fact, in comparison to the Orange Moron across the pond, he was fantastic).

After that, he was on the verge of pantomime clown on at least a couple of occasions.

I won't criticise him yet for the ambiguous action re pubs etc, but it certainly smells none too good. I wouldn't trust him as far as I'd trust Cook not to give earache to the 4th Official.

I am incredibly cynical of the media as the media has proven itself to be so incredibly cynical.

I think Boris could find a cure for Corona Virus and he'd get slated. That's how partisan everything is.

.

Fair point ................ but what about Johnson's line re pubs, theatres etc. It appears to be causing a bit of a stink in the industry. Convenient? Deliberately vague? An oversight?

Based on what Macron has done this evening (re support to business), our approach appears to be a little half-hearted to say the least.
