Johnny Irwin of escape to the country and a place in the sun fame staple daytime viewing for me and many others has finally succumbed to cancer he always came across as a friendly guy
it feels like I’ve lost a m8 😔

Yeah me too. I still watch the odd show if it one pops up on BBC2 and the lost episodes were worth watching, but the film was garbage. We saw the Dad's Army stage show at the Lyceum and that was excellent. Peter Martin (Joe in the Royal Family) played Captain Mainwaring and he was hilarious.

Probably the most “naturally” gifted Rugby Union talent I ever saw. Sadly only on TV as I would have loved to have been there to see him play.
The records of Wales and The Lions when he played show what his contribution was.
RIP Barry John. You gave my generation some marvellous memories.
