Let's Help Deano Choose a New Car

Vital Football Legend
Our mate Dean needs a new car. His current one is a bit knackered. He needs a car to drive to work which I think is quite far away from where he lives.

Mrs Deano's car is big enough to get about with the kids and that so he can get something small and cheap.

Deano is thinking of a Fiesta but unless it's a Fiesta ST, he's going to look a complete gayer. I know, I didn't think it was possible either.

So, Deano, let's pool the massive brain power of Vital Villa and see what we can come up with. Do you have a budget in mind or should we just swing for the fences?

I appreciate your efforts BB but we've had a brainwave.

Gonna scrap my rust bucket with Ford and get the 2k scrappage allowance, and get a new family car with that (Either the Kuga or the Edge depending on how sensible or not we're feeling).

I'm then going to have the Qashqai and run it into the ground for 2 years, especially having just spent £550 on it!

Since you have to drive quite far to work, it's best to get something comfortable:

Fiat Punto if it's cheep insurence tax fuel etc. if you need something bigger I would go for the bmw 530. You can get both cars for under 1k.

If you are looking for a cheap runabout, they don't get much cheaper than this. It's only got a one horse power engine though.

The Ford Kuga is a nice car, I had the 2 ltr diesel and easily got 50 to the gallon, the Ford Edge is a big car, better for having the 3 children but pricey. In the same bracket the XTrail I have now is bloody huge.

Tesla Model 3.

I have ordered one, trouble is it will be 2019 before the right hand drive one is made.

...or if you're loaded, the Tesla Model S (Sedan) or the Model X (Crossover)

Unbelievable cars!

Since telling Deano I had a Renault Megane and never had a problem with it 3 months ago I have had nothing but problems with it.......

:10:

I've just ordered a new motor, a bit nervous about the financial investment to be honest. When I have worked out what we pay today, including fuel, toll roads (a part of every day life over here) and repairs and then factor in that the new car has a guarantee, will be exempt from toll road fees and, as long as I use the Superchargers, will cost me absolutely zero in fuel charges for the entire time I own the car, my monthly expenses will go up between £50 and £120 depending on social use of the car (I've only calculated use to and from work) I can afford this without any problem but the numbers are big and scary, the only time I've ever borrowed anything like this amount before is when buying our house (It's not quite that price but it's still a big number). I'll add that in Norway they are so enthusiastic about electric cars that it costs a lot less here than in the UK, in fact it's less than similar petrol/diesel cars. I've ordered this:-

What did you get Ian. I still can't find one that meets all my needs.

Edit - hahaha. The picture hadn't loaded. Wow. You really went for it.
