League Two Summer Business

Jordan Williams was not good enough for what we need, and certainly not good enough for League One where he is now. He had very little impact, hence his limited game time while he was here. He only started six games in four months, and was substituted in five of those. I would be very surprised to see us go after him.

when cowley spoke about the positions he was looking to fill - it would have been easy to say 'left winger', but he chose the specific phrase 'left footed wide midfield player'. england don't even have one of those.

Just reading match report and comments by Phil Brown manager of Swindon Town where I work. 8 trialists took part in a game against Cirencester Town. A Jordan Williams was one of the players. Doesn't identify who/why/where this Jordan Williams. I wondered if it was the left winger we had on loan last season from Rochdale. If he's up for grabs we could do a lot worse. I thought he did well when given the chance for us. Also noticed Rochdale had signed another Jordan Williams recently on loan from Liverpool. Confusion with the names on the back of the shirt situation??
There are loads of Jordan Williamses apparently. Probably a different one. The one we had last year isn't good enough, we could do much better.

Port Vale have signed Quigley on loan from Blackpool. Doesn't seem to add much more than back up to Pope but their team actually looks pretty good. Lacking quality in CM for me but potential play off team.

hardy is beginning to sound like a bloke who would buy boldewijn just to win a oneupmanship bet.

Like a lot of these Chairman throwing money around it’s a pure ego thing. Probably bullied at school and has no mates, therefore buys a club and is desperate for some kind of success in order to bask in the reflected glory. Used to be that sad middle aged men bought Harley Davidsons and satisfied themselves with jerking off over Top Gear.

a couple of comments re: woodyard here
he is contender for captain, well done alex. also this quote from evans:
"Jason Naismith and Alex Woodyard have already shown their commitment to our club by honouring pledges to play for us rather than take advantage of late bids from other clubs.”
i wonder who he turned down. assuming evans isn't just bigging the situation up [very possible]

Alex to Steve: "It's the Danny and Nicky Cowley way Steve, make a decision and stand by it, rather than f**king off from a job the moment a better offer arrives and making up some b*****s about going to the Middle East in the process to cover up what a greedy b******d I am..."

Probably Luton.

Notts County sign Welsh international David Vaughan from Forest.

They really are spending an awful lot of money.

I'm happy to see them buy their way out of this division if it gets rid of them. We got promoted from the Conference after all the big spending clubs (bar FGR) had gone up (e.g. Mansfield, Luton, etc), so I suspect the same may happen with L2 (if we don't manage it this season, of course).

Staying true to your word is clearly an alien concept to Evans.
