Johan Lange Thread

So after his "Promotion" (Lol) Lange is now interviewing for the Spurs DOF role . As suspected he's been pushed out of the set up.

Really interesting development. I think you'd probably say the best players at the club either arrived before or just as he became DoF (Watkins, Martinez, Konsa). And the next group of good players came while Unai was running the show.

Ings, Bailey and Buendia all arrive under his watch.

Kamara, DC and Duran are probably the best signings he made as DoF. Although TBF Diaby looks like someone Lange had us track.

Employee applies for another job shock.

Never happened before has it ?

No it isn't a shock at all.

But some thought his "international academy" was some sort of strategic master plan

Others thought he was shuffled sideways and wouldn't be content with that and would move on shortly.

Nothing unusual he had his nose pushed out by Monchi and the Spanish team and wants a DOF role at a club regarded as one of the Big6. like it or not that is how he will see Spurs and so do the rest of football bar us Villans.
He is trying to further his career

The multi-club plan was thoroughly kyboshed by UEFA so obviously that role is considerably less chunky than it was.

Can't believe the state he left us in: qualified for Europe for the first time in a decade, international players all over the pitch. Hope the door doesn't hit him on the way out.

Lol yeah . Was clear as day he was being pushed out and given a new title while he worked his notice .

Aston Villa can confirm a new structure to the club’s Youth Development and International Academies, which will now come under the leadership of Monchi, President of Football Operations.

Matthew Kidson will take over from Johan Lange as Director of Global Development.

Was going to post the same thing, we don’t know why he left if it was because he was moved to a “lesser” role or if the proposed role never fully materialised

Ultimately no one really understands how the club operates on a day to day basis so the job change is barely worth having an opinion on either way. I think our recruitment since he joined has been mixed, some good some bad but as others have pointed out it’s also been very manager-led at times (Coutinho, Digne were Gerrard, Watkins was Smith, Emi was the GK coach, Moreno was Emery etc), I just don’t have much of a view either positive or negative on Lange or his replacement Monchi

Like you say a good chunk of our team had very little to do with him and based on the involvement most of us assume he had. His name is tagged to more mistakes than successes. The trio of signings when we sold Jack, Olsen, Morgan Sanson, hiring of Gerrard. A lot of negative things happened under his watch.

Duran might be the one bit of quality he got us and that's TBD.

Eh? Kamara, Diego Carlos, Dendoncker, Duran, Buendia, Watkins, Martinez, Cash and Bailey are all regulars in our team that's currently 5th and that finished last season 7th. All signed under Lange. I left off Digne because he was Gerrard's baby as much as Coutinho was.
