January Transfer Window Thread

From the OS
England Under-17 World Cup winner Nya Kirby has joined Blackpool on loan from Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season.
The highly-rated midfielder, who signed a new a contract with his parent club in October, immediately links up with the squad en route to Portsmouth.
Previously on the books of Tottenham, the 18-year-old has featured in a number of pre-season friendlies for Crystal Palace and was also named on the first-team bench for a Premier League fixture against his former side in February 2018.
Internationally, Kirby played in six of England’s seven games at the Under-17 World Cup, scoring the winning penalty against Japan to reach the quarter-finals. He also appeared in last summer’s UEFA U-19 Championships in Finland.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson believes the regular game time at "senior level" at Blackpool will be perfect for Nya Kirby's development.
It comes after the Palace midfielder was confirmed as a Blackpool player until the end of the season.
The England U17 World Cup winner, aged 18, is well regarded at Selhurst Park but it has been decided regular game time in League One is what is needed.
Hodgson said: "Nya has been on the fringes of the first team squad because we have had quite a large squad, so he hasn't had as many training sessions with me as I would have liked, which is partly due to injuries as well.
"But he is a player we really believe in strongly, and he needs something which we can’t give him at this time, which is a regular 90 minutes at senior level.
"He will get that at Blackpool and I am really happy that they have decided to take him on."

Terry McPhillips will this week look to bolster his attacking options after his Blackpool side again failed to hit the back of the net at the weekend.

The Seasiders are expected to wrap up the loan signing of Newcastle United striker Elias Sorensen in the coming days.
The 19-year-old, who has scored 19 goals for Newcastle’s development side this season, should be confirmed as a Blackpool player now he is back in the country after representing Denmark Under-21 in Mexico.
Blackpool were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, the 11th time McPhillips’ men have failed to score in League One this season.
The Seasiders, who have netted just 27 goals in 27 league games, struggled to create chances, though Armand Gnanduillet did squander an opportunity as did fellow forward Chris Long on his full debut.
Manager McPhillips said after Saturday’s stalemate: “I knew there weren’t going to be many goals in it because we’re not bad at defending.
“At half-time on Tuesday against Stoke (in the Shrews’ 3-2 FA Cup win) they were dead and buried, and then they come out and were hard to get past.
“Stoke should have scored more and it should have been done with, but fair play to them for scoring three times in 10 minutes and winning away.
“That’s given them great confidence and they’ve taken that here.
“They were hard to get past first half, which we couldn’t manage.
“I knew we would do better in the second half and we had a right good go at the end.
“I don’t think the referee has been great and the pitch hasn’t helped us – it’s a cow field – but we’re going to have to get used to that because it’s not going to get any better.
“Disappointing all in all but positives are Longy getting 80-odd minutes, which was good, so he will be all the better for that next week.
“But we do need more goals from elsewhere. We can’t just throw it all on Armand and Longy.
“Hopefully we will bring someone else in on Monday but we’re demanding everyone chips in and help us because we need to score to win.”
Asked to expand on what business Blackpool are likely to do during the remainder of this transfer window, McPhillips added: “We’re hoping to do another one on Monday if we can.
“We’ll just see what happens after that but it’s football – it’s never done until it’s done, so we’ll see.”
McPhillips anticipated interest in several of his players ahead of this month’s window but that – so far – hasn’t materialised.
“I’m really surprised it hasn’t happened so far but apparently it hasn’t,” the Pool boss said.
“We’ll just wait and see. There were a few scouts here from the Championship.”

Newcastle fans are excited to see how Elias Sorensen fares in League One following his loan move to Blackpool on Monday afternoon.
Sorensen has enjoyed a prolific season at under-23 level, scoring 19 goals, including four goals in the Checkatrade Trophy. Most recently, he capped his first two appearances for Denmark under-21s with two goals.
His form earned him a new three-and-a-half year deal at the club earlier this month and his move to Blackpool - where Sean Longstaff flourished on loan last season - is the next stage of his development.

Looks like McLaughlin could be on his way out:

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney has revealed a bid for Blackpool full-back Ryan McLaughlin has been unsuccessful. The Buddies boss thought he had agreed a six-month loan deal for the former Liverpool youngster. All that was required was for the 24-year-old to drive north to Paisley and sign a contract. But Kearney’s hopes were dashed when

But Kearney’s hopes were dashed when Blackpool received a cash bid from another unnamed club south of the border and the Northern Ireland international was ordered to return back to Bloomfield Road to talk terms with Saints’ rival suitors.

It's Rochdale

T McP hints at another.
There's been an Aussie defender on trial at the club (so much for our scouts deep in the colonies keeping us updated :grinning::wave:) wonder who it may be?

Terry McPhillips has hinted Blackpool could do more business in the final week of the transfer window after all.

The Pool boss had previously suggested Monday’s loan signing of Newcastle United striker Elias Sorensen would be the Seasiders’ last piece of January business unless a star player was sold for big money.

But following Ryan McLaughlin’s departure to Rochdale, McPhillips said he might look to bring in another player to bolster his attacking options, with Blackpool having failed to score in five of their last seven outings.

“You never know in this game, do you?” the Pool boss said. “So maybe there might be one more.”

Asked what he would be looking for in any potential signing, McPhillips replied: “To help us score a goal.”

McLaughlin was confirmed as a Rochdale player on Wednesday, Pool’s League One rivals paying a five-figure fee for the defender.

While the cash coming Blackpool’s way is not believed to be substantial, it is expected to cover the fee the Seasiders themselves paid to sign the full-back from Oldham last summer.

McPhillips believes the move is one that suits both parties and hinted others could head out.

He added: “Ryan wants to play and he hasn’t had as much of an opportunity here as he would like.

“He’s trained ever so well. He just didn’t get the opportunities he wanted.

“He wanted to play but, like a couple of others, hadn’t played as much as he wanted.

“Possibly one or two more might want to do that and seek football elsewhere.”

McPhillips was again asked whether the club had received bids for any of its players.

While he expects there to be interest towards the end of the window, McPhillips said that as far as he is aware the club has yet to receive any firm bids.

The Pool boss added: “I can only go off what I’ve been told and it’s a no.

“I would expect it to change. I imagine there will be some cheeky bids for the players that have done really well.

“But it’s football, isn’t it? Anything can happen.”

McLaughlin looked set to join Scottish side St Mirren earlier this week, having signed the paperwork for a six-month loan deal, but then Dale made a last-minute cash bid.

The 24-year-old made just 11 Blackpool appearances and started only one League One fixture.

According to CUFC Manager Pressley, Cully won't be properly fit for a couple of weeks. He also said Cully turned down an move to a League One side
