January Transfer Window Thread

I agree the atmosphere could be a lot better ,
The disgruntled fans who try to stop supporting fans from supporting the team does not help ,bad enough having O.O. to contend with.

Allow me to remind you once again, the real fans, are those of us prepared to stand on principle against the tyrant who amongst his many disgraceful activities sued and threatened loyal fans for thousands of pounds. He has ruined lives by taking their hard earned cash from them because they correctly pointed out that he was asset stripping the club. Surely it is more important to support those fans that were so criminally treated by this odious tyrant, unlike you and others who are still funding him.
Incidentally those of us who stay away on match days do not try to stop those who have decided to go through the turnstiles.

In reality Bob, the only priority is to get rid of Oyston. Wherever the club finds itself once the scum has been purged it will at last be in a position to work it’s way back up the leagues.

Paudie O'Connor having his loan cut short, will spend the rest of the season at Bradford according to Matt Scrafton.

Frustrating, especially with the rumours of Heneghan going to Boro as well.

O"Connor has been with Blackpool since the start of the season but has struggled to get regular game time at Bloomfield Road, making 17 appearances with just 10 of those coming in League One. The Irish centre back had started the last four games, however, following an injury to Curtis Tilt and the brief absence of Donervon Daniels.

It is understood Blackpool were already planning to let O'Connor go back to Leeds during this month's transfer window, but the Elland Road club have recalled him earlier than expected. That's so the defender can seal a loan switch to Bradford, which is expected to be confirmed soon. O'Connor scored two goals during his short spell on the Fylde coast, the first one coming in the 3-3 draw against Macclesfield Town in the Checkatrade Trophy. His last goal for the club came at the Emirates Stadium back in October, when the defender was also shown a straight red card in Blackpool's narrow 2-1 defeat against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

O'Connor's departure could leave Blackpool short on defensive options ahead of Saturday's trip to league leaders Portsmouth. Curtis Tilt, who has already been linked with a move away this month, is still out injured and Ben Heneghan missed the defeat to Arsenal at the weekend through illness. Even with Tilt, Heneghan and Daniels all fit and available for selection, Pool will still be light on backup as Terry McPhillips has opted to play a back three on a number of occasions this season.

Blaming those who choose to sacrifice their long enjoyed pleasures is despicable regardless of whether you believe such action is likely to be effective.

Chris Long's two-year contract at Fleetwood Town has been terminated by mutual consent after just six months.

The forward was brought in by head coach Joey Barton in the summer after the 23-year-old's release from Premier League club Burnley. Long was progressing through the Clarets' youth ranks while Barton was a player there and they shared a car to training. But now Long is departing, with Town's League One neighbours Blackpool understood to be his next destination.

The striker's return to Highbury in the summer was a surprise given how his first spell ended. The forward joined on a season-long loan from Burnley in 2016-17 but was recalled in the January and loaned out to Bolton, who would pip Town to promotion that season. Barton gave the striker a two-year deal but it has been an unhappy spell for the forward. Long made just 13 appearances and scored once in a 2-2 Checkatrade Trophy draw with Leicester City Under-21s.

His final Town appearance was in the same cmpetition, when Town crashed out 3-1 to League Two side Bury in November Long and Gethin Jones were hauled off at half-time for what Barton called "effort errors". Jones is also expected to leave the club this month. Before the window opened Barton said of Jones and Long: "If I'm honest, the future for them is away from this football club should they and their agents manage to secure moves for them. "I don't see how they would be involved going forward. It is better for their personal careers to play football.

"The key is to resolve any issues as early as we can in January to let those lads crack on with their careers and free up resources for us to use on people or players that we feel can benefit us, whether that is promoting someone from our own academy structure or someone we bring in from outside of it."

He has signed.

Blackpool can confirm the signing of striker Chris Long on a contract until the end of the season. Long, 23, is a former England youth international, who represented his country from under-16 to under-20 level. He started his career on the books of Everton, making his first-team debut in a Europa League group stage game against Krasnodar. In July 2015, he joined Burnley for an undisclosed fee, prior to scoring goals on loan at Fleetwood Town and Bolton Wanderers. Last season he had a year-long loan spell with Northampton Town, where he found the net on nine occasions in Sky Bet League One. Having moved back to Fleetwood Town in the summer, he is now reunited at Blackpool with manager Terry McPhillips, who coached him as a player in the Everton academy. “Chris is someone I know well from my days working with him at Everton and he has always had great potential. The boy just wants to play and score goals,” the manager said. “His arrival strengthens our options in the final third and knowing him personally, he will fit into our dressing room very well.”

Terry McPhillips says he is looking forward to re-acquainting himself with Chris Long after the striker made the move down the Fylde coast to Blackpool.

The 23-year-old, who was previously coached by McPhillips while coming through the youth ranks at Everton, last night put pen to paper on a deal with the Seasiders until the end of the season.

That came after the two-year deal he signed with Fleetwood Town during the summer was cancelled by the Highbury club yesterday, allowing him to join Pool for nothing.

Blackpool boss McPhillips said: “Chris is someone I know well from my days working with him at Everton and he has always had great potential.

“The boy just wants to play and score goals. His arrival strengthens our options in the final third.
“And knowing him personally, he will fit into our dressing room very well.”
Long signed for Fleetwood last July, having previously scored four goals in 18 appearances at the club during a loan spell from Burnley in 2016.
Further loan spells at Bolton and Northampton followed before the 23-year-old, who has represented England up to U20 level, was released by the Clarets at the end of last season.

But the move to Highbury didn’t go to plan as the forward made just 13 appearances, scoring his only goal in the Checkatrade Trophy draw with Leicester City U21 in September.
In November it was revealed Fleetwood boss Joey Barton had ordered the striker to train with the club’s U18 squad after hauling him off at half-time in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Bury.
That turned out to be the final Fleetwood appearance for Liverpool-born Long, who spent the whole of last season with Northampton, where his nine goals in 43 appearances could not prevent relegation from League One.
Blackpool considered signing Long last summer, when Gary Bowyer was manager, but a deal never materialised.

Long’s arrival is likely to signal the end for fellow frontman Steve Davies, whose short-term deal at Bloomfield Road expires on Saturday.

Blackpool have enquired about the possibility of signing Elias Sorensen on loan for the second half of the season. The 19-goal striker signed a new contract this week and has is now set for international duty with Denmark Under-21s but Newcastle have yet to sanction his exit in the January window. Sorensen picked up an ankle knock in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday evening.
Newcastle also had interest from Gateshead for Sorensen's signature while Hartlepool United scout Tommy Miller senior has scouted the youngster extensively this term.

HITC Sport understands Crystal Palace starlet Nya Kirby is poised to join Blackpool on loan.

Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to send highly-rated midfielder Nya Kirby on loan to League One Blackpool, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Kirby is on the fringes of the first-team at Palace and he is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Selhurst Park.

The 18-year-old helped England win the Under-17 World Cup in 2017 and he has impressed for Palace's Under 18s and Under 23s since joining from Tottenham in the summer of 2016.
The skilful midfielder is yet to make his first-team debut for Palace, but was on the bench for the Carabao Cup tie at Middlesbrough earlier this season.

Palace feel Kirby would benefit from going out on loan to continue his development by playing regular first-team football for the second half of the season.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in taking Kirby on loan, but Blackpool have been chasing the teenager for some time.

Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips is keen to bolster his midfield options and he sees Kirby as a valuable addition to his plans as he will add some creativity to his side.
