Ipswich (A)

Our team is (deservedly) top of the league, with a game in hand on 3rd, and more than a win in front.

They also have the best away form in the league.

I've every confidence they'll turn up on Tuesday.

If I were a Rotherham or MK Dons fan right now, I'd be shittin' mesel.

We should piss this in whatever formation we play. A fit and fresh squad raring to go. Top the league against shite that have done nothing this season. There for the taking for our Champions elect.

For Bennett to not even make the bench Saturday you’d assume he’s unlikely to make it tomorrow (unless he was absent for personal reasons) …if so then he must start his other specialist left back Pearce.
Pearce’s contributions have admittedly been inconsistent but you’d nonetheless start him in that position every time before moving Darikwa there and yet again exposing Power at right back …..and forsaking the three centre back set up.

Also regarding tomorrow the last thing we need is a guy with no left foot up against one of the best right sided players of the division in Wes Burns.

Go figure.

In defence of Max that lad on the left was tricky...that ball he put over for their 2nd was a peach.
Max has always done ok at right back or wing back but it disrupts the midfield to have him playing there. What is a bigger problem is playing our right back out of position at left back. Best idea on paper is to use our recognised right back on the right, use one of our recognised left backs on the left and play our talisman midfielder in midfield. Seems quite simple really.

When Power went to right back earlier in the season didn't Leam say the reason he brought Power back was to use him at RB?

For me tactics and formation are secondary at this stage of the season. If we go there switched on and are first to the ball from the outset and win a few big challenges that will set the tempo and we will go on to win.

That was the big thing missing on Saturday. Yes the formation was switched and the tactics changed but Cambridge had more energy and zip and were first to every ball and that's where the game was lost.

That can be largely due to nerves, expectation, fatigue and various other factors. We just need to manage that and if we do then we'll win.

But that's the way we play when we play 4-2-3-1 at home games. It has been played at a slow pace and with caution. No proper width. Even McClean looked more of a winger playing at wing back. Two home wins against the top twelve clubs all season is strange but maybe it is because of this cautious manner we have shown at home.

We lost on Saturday because our tactics where shite.
After the half time switch our main threat 2nd half was Watts doing a diagonal ball to Lang on the right. That was after passing the ball around the backline 4 or 5 times.
Lang was out jumped or muscled off the ball everytime but we kept doing it.
Why does Leam persist with playing Lang wide right when it rarely works? What about playing through the middle and running at players?

After the Sunderland home league game. Their manager said Wigan like to play down the wings so we stopped them. That was exactly what Cambridge did to us.

So I would say tactics and formations are just as important at this time of the season.
It should go without saying that the players will be up for it.

Be positive and determined and we will come away with a point, no easy game this. Have a positive attitude and if we want to top this league, we can take it to the last game of the season.

Watching Plymouth and think we need a win tomorrow as anything more than a point against this lot is highly unlikely.

Why do other teams seem capable of dribbling the ball whereas we seem to play hoof ball to Magennis. If we can get Lang to lift his head and look for a pass we ma start scoring again.
