I hate what the world is becoming

Last night in Krabi. So just chilling in a small bar. The bar opposite is doing karaoke. A massive group of English people singing Leicester City songs on the microphone instead of singing the song.

1. This is why tourists have a shit reputation.

2. How do I walk past without saying 'up the villa'?

If it turns argumentative my thai woman won't speak to me for a week.
But.......

Something I've noticed recently with clothing is that there isn't an option to sort or filter by gender. The frustration is that it now it takes a good bit longer to sift thru all the options. You can tell even if there isn't a model in the clothes that it is a woman's fit and size.

This is just unnecessary, like surely you can figure out a way to this without making my experience a mess. If you don't nobody is going to waste their time. The most annoying is on one site if you are a woman its easy to find clothes because they call the fit "contoured". And everything contoured is strictly womens, men's clothes hilariously has 10s of options tho and you can't have multiple filters on with this particular site.

It's a small issue in the grand scheme, I don't the world for it but I won't waste my time shopping at these places either. The solution can't be that difficult to sort out.

Just shows how an insignificant tiny minority can get multi nationals jumping through hoops

My daughter asked me to order more printer ink today as she couldn’t print anything more at school . I enquired as to why . Was there a shortage of ink, paper or other such problem at school with the printers?.

No , apparently, in the UK in 2024 state school pupils have a limit as to what they can print at school. My daughter had apparently in wanting to print A LEVEL PRACTICE PAPERS !, reached her limit. Naughty her for showing such diligence and will to do well. Bet this doesn’t happen literally over the road from her school at the private girls school.

That's what your 10 or 20k a year buys you. The missus wants to send any kids we have to private school. Granted you could be talking double that here in the states (per child).

The whole argument is time and resources, teachers are overworked and underpaid in public schools. And you've got this issue with resource management. Me and my missus would disagree but I would abolish private schools except I would have specialty schools for kids with learning disabilities.

How can you abolish private schools. Why don't you abolish all wealth while you're at it. Let's have a Marxist system where you only have money if you are one of the ruling elites.

You know me, I am all for inclusivity, injecting it into my veins but lets use the heads here every now and then.

Don't agree with with Wittonite's use of 'insignificant' but I got what he meant. This is what winds everyone up I think is companies just paying lip service instead of actually thinking it through properly and coming up with something that works, without inconveniencing people.

It really shouldn't be this difficult, it's simply an additional preference box that filters.

Going on a tangent but quite easily, and I'd go as far as single sex/faith as well.

Not sure what wider wealth or Marxism has to do with it? Better socialisation, more normalisation between the classes/genders/faiths etc, different and better life experience - you'd still have streams to group ability levels but it would be a better leveller.

It also wouldn't stop additional tutoring if you could afford it, but that in turn would also filter down through friendship groups and help lift some others up.

The taxpayer funds these schools under the table anyway, so centralise the lot and fuck off Academies as well, revamp the curriculum and we are good to go.

This is me applying something that I complained about recently, using the American lense outside of America. Its a much bigger issue in the states because its a race and war on the poor issue. The disparity between private and public here is a gulf whereas in comparison to Ireland the difference is a lot smaller.

To Mike's point what I am getting at is the duality of private schools. They drain public resources, and the standard of a public school would shoot up if wealthier folks didn't have other options. Right now they get the best of both worlds.

Most of us have more in common with someone living in poverty than millionaires and billionaires but we don't stick together. We all think we're going to be wealthy or that we can make it. We defend the right of the super rich to exploit us. 99% of people will not become anywhere near that wealthy. The mean wage in the UK is 35,000. I came from a working-class family, I am supremely lucky I am where I am. I didn't just work hard, I took what was honestly a very low risk chance and I met the right people at the right time.

For all my shite talk here I will end up sticking my kids in a private school because it'll put them miles ahead. They'll have more resources and access to much better opportunities. The only reason I wouldn't have to do that is if I end up living in a high income area where the public schools are flooded with local tax income.

Because Marx believed that private wealth caused inequality in society.. I get the tax payer support for public/private schools, and Starmer has said that will cease if Labour comes to power. The state school system is broken, so what's wrong with sending a child to a private school if you can afford it. Money buys privilege, always has done, always will.
Good luck with closing down the Muslim schools and Catholic schools, you'll have a riot on your hands. Getting schools to perform as you would like , especially inner city schools is utopian and won't happen.

I take it public and private are the opposite in the US. UK public schools cost a fortune and are anything but public. If you have the means to put your kids through private school and didnt you are either very principled or have greater faith in the state school system than I do.
Our granddaughter goes to a private school on a scholarship after being badly let down by the state secondary school and the change in her is immense. Best of luck with your childrens education.

I get the Marx theory, but I don't buy into it binary. And I don't see how it applies here. Ending private schools doesn't change wealth or entitlement. Wealth inequality is a totally different subject.

Hence, standardise all schools (no Academies or private etc) but it is not a bar to extra tuition if it's feasible. The gap would narrow but not disappear - I just believe the benefits would be greater overall, and again if you have the money to provide a boost, you can still boost your kids (but it would still filter down for the greater good). If you are rich with an intelligent kid they will still excel.

Even Starmer's plan is only a 60% rebalancing, taxpayers will still be contributing even then (but it's a start). And as private schools don't have to follow the curriculum, why do the rich kids get to pay to pass as long as a bit of latin is involved?

For clarity, I will add I am making the distinction between private and grammar.

Anything is possible with thought, standardising the education system is extremely doable, as is significantly improving it. And if any parent wouldn't welcome that, I'd be looking at them closely.

My thoughts on Academies are well known, and I don't believe I've ever hidden our two ended up home schooled given our local shit tip, because they are obsessed with money and not the kids.

Encapsulated in a sentence. Local shit tip. And then add in the non academy inner city/ outer city shit tips like the one our daughter went too that was run/ overrun, by bused in yobs from Wolverhampton. We moved her to a school that involved us in a thirty mile round trip, but worth every gallon of petrol.
The Marxist reference is because you are removing choices in a free society. It's what a western democracy is about. Smacks of the old eastern European way of doing things.
Our schools are broken, no discipline, teachers putting forward their own thoughts on contentious subjects, lax control of religious schools.
As for Latin, I was obliged to do Latin, Russian and French at school and still hardly spoke a word of it when I left. 😂😂.
Sorry about the italicized paragraph Mike, can't stop the fuckin thing doing it.

Some pedo in Australia got 10 months for kiddie porn. He got off easy because most of it was AI generated.

Hopefully the prisoners will make his stay there eternal.

On the other side of this, who is running AI websites that generate images of child abuse and are fine with that? Those people need to see the underneath of a steamroller.

Worlds gone mad.

On the flip side. If nonces can get their kicks from AI and leave children alone then that's a massive benefit.

90% of us seemingly have choices taken away, why do people only rebel when it effects the rich and would better benefit them?

And pleased to hear re local shit tip on your side. Wish I'd done it earlier with our eldest, as it took them longer to bounce back, but both are flying now, and after everything watching the eldest teach the youngest with homework (that I can't figure out) is a joy lol

Never got stuck on italic, but I often get stuck with bold for some reason PMSL

Mine also gets stuck in bold, and it makes you look angry, which I'm not, but I usually come right out, lose it and retype.😡

Yes, lol When I get stuck in bold, I copy and paste to notepad, and then copy and paste for speed now as it can come off wrong - to akin to posting in CAPS for me.

Us lot playfully argue enough, we don't need to add misunderstandings lol
