Brad’s interview

Is this Neil Harris' burner account?

I guess there's no pleasing some. Anyone who watched Gillingham at the start of last season knows we were going into the national league. In a touch over *1 year*, we've gone from being relegation fodder to promotion contenders, to having a clear vision and structure for the future. We couldn't sign the likes of Dempsey and Graham near the foot of League Two, right?

There's a wood for the trees issue here.

Brad and Shannon can't do anything about what happened in the past - everything that they have done since has been fantastic. Let's not forget, this club was heading for the graveyard of non-league football without their intervention; Different but as important as Mr Scally's in 1995.

I don’t think that Waldo was being overly critical.

Remember fans once wanted the GRS to be called the Paul Scally Stand? That was in his honeymoon period. The Galinson’s are having theirs now.

Not sure why you would think that. I am not aware that NH has said anything critical of the Galinsons and I am sure that Brad said a while back that he still had contact with NH, who I don't think ever blamed BG for his sacking.

Since then, he has had two management position upgrades to higher divisions so no real need for bitterness. It all worked out well for everyone.

Personally, I feel at this stage that it is fair to say that our approval for the Galinsons after 16 months is about the same as Scally would have enjoyed at the same stage of his ownership, having in his case already achieved one promotion. The only difference being that the Galinsons can delegate decisions and responsibilities to someone like Joe Comper, whereas Scally seemed loathed to ever do that.

I don't think it is their intention to make the Gills their main income stream or stay quite as long as PS, either.

We all know that GBN is NH’s burner account? 😉. Right Neil?

I was one of the more vocal on here regarding scally. His experience may be useful and all the time he's not speaking to the media i am ok. A publically silent member of club, helping with his experience is all good.

That said I am reading a lot into the "one culture" statements. We can all agree scallys approach to PR (public ranting in his case) are miles apart from the "its about the fans" position the Galinsons have.

That must cause tension particularly when the Gs are out of town.

I suspect he'll drift away hopefully quietly.

He’s not been banned from Priestfield for a long time.

Came to a couple of games since the Galinsons took over but his ‘boycott’ remains in place all the while Scally is still involved with the club.

I guess when your whole persona is built around criticising those in charge, you have to be ever more imaginative when those in charge are clearly decent people and doing good things.

Naturally, Fred feels all staff in a position of power at the club are doing a terrible job.

It's worth keeping Uncle Paul around to ensure that Fred's boycott remains in place.

As Scally is still one of only 3 directors of the club, he remains senior to Joe Comper, who is managing director but not an actual director on the board!

True, and he still owns at least 25% of the club.

I'm wondering whether this announcement is in preparation for what may happen in 2025 when PDPS reaches 70.

Between now and then there's plenty of time for the Senior team to bring on board (literally) someone prepared to buy his stake. This, and his share from the repayment of the £1.8M owed to the 'Three Directors' since 2012 would probably give him the sort of retirement pot he's been working for.

Do you think the Galinsons will be trying to find an investor in little ol' USA, or somewhere huge like, say, Dubai? ;)

Heard some of it on radio kent on the way to the game. They were talking about having two different lists of transfer targets, one for League 1 and one for League 2. And Joe Comper made the point there’d be a first, second and third choice for each position and that we wouldn’t get all the first choice targets. They didn’t play the full interview just snippets of it.

That’s hardly earth shattering innovation, clubs have been doing that for years

That would surprise me.

Joe is now the Galinsons main contact when they are away. He makes the decisions. I would definitly say he is the most senior UK national at the club.

I think scallys role is advisory not managerial.

Look up the roles on the club website. Scally is one of 3 directors, he still owns around 30% of the club. He’s not been involved in the day to day stuff for ages now.
Shannon Galinson commented that when she did her due diligence on buying the club, she found it was Joe Comper who was always answering her questions back then (not Scally or Paul Fisher), and that it was he who was effectively running the club .

Nobody said it was. They also mentioned hiring stats based recruitment specialists, data analysts etc, but personally I’d rather all that kind of money went into the squad itself.
One person they didn’t mention was Hess so I suspect he’ll move on in the summer.
