He was then waxing lyrical about their team in 1981 and how with the likes of Mariner, Muhren, Thijsenn, Beattie and him didn't win the title. He says that they beat us three times that season.

Well we had Bosko Jankovic in our 'squad' and we won the title.

To be fair they must have been gutted. I'm sure if we had beaten Ipswich 3 times and finished 2nd we would feel like we deserved to win it.
I'm still pissed off we signed Cascarino in 1990 as was convinced at the time we were going to win the league.
 
I was like a trembling 10 year old when I had this taken. To be surrounded by your heroes and for them to be asking me questions...!

I see your point but there were another 20 teams in the league and we beat some of them more times than Ipswich did. 26 wins to their 23 was what won us the title.
I agree about Cascarino - he should have stuck to selling ice cream if you believe Jack Charlton!
 
Liverpool beat man utd twice in one season a few years ago but utd won the title, it just says champions on the honours list for man utd.

That is fantastic. My late Father went very shortly before i was born. I still have a program in excellent condition. I should treat myself as well.
 
GT wanted Sherimgham . Ellis would only give money for Cascerino.
Judging on Tefdy’s career we would have won the league

Thats a new one on me. Cascarino was a typical GT type of centre froward and he kept scoring against us for Millwall. Pretty sure we broke our transfer record for him as well. Teddy or Niall Quinn would have worked out far better

Cas said on the radio that his nickname at VP was ‘Ted’ as the players reckoned we had signed the wrong one from Millwall......
