Aston Villa v Brentford: Saturday 6th April, 3pm

There was a 15 minute spell where Emery, McGinn or one of our leaders should have just said, "we sit in now lads". Fill in behind our wingers making that back 6 thing we sometimes do. Instead, we just strolled around the pitch oblivious to momentum. So so so frustrating when really we could have romped that.

Gotta hope 5th is good enough now as I expect Tottenham to close the gap. That might mean we have to win the Conference League

When we wobble when we are up against momentum we capitulate badly. We’ve seen that same thing happen repeatedly this season. For how much good we have seen this year that’s one underlying weakness.
I think its the same for all teams kicking above their weight. Top 3 are streets ahead. Although City had a major wobble at Palace before half time today.

Disappointing, frustrating, this was one of those games that we should have won....but in other years def would have lost.

Need to sort out the mentality of the team - that 10-15 period after half time is a curse for us.

Hindsight and all but maybe Luiz would have been a better player to take off in that last batch of subs before the yellow card.

Spuds will beat Forest. They'll be on the crest of a wave after today. Should have been so different.

Have to say this is the match thread but that 2 minute turnaround where Manu went from 3 points to 0 is huge for us - added to the fact we went from 0 to 1 point today late on

Starting to gain some perspective despite the clown-show that was that 15 minute spell.

It's always felt like there will be twists and turns until the end, it's been that kind of season across the league—no one has been able to run far out ahead in 4th/5th spot at any point in the season, the fact that we are still well in with a chance is amazing. We've been mostly in 4th for a long time now, (partly due to Spurs' game in hand), it'll be frustrating if we drop out but overall not a disaster.

Feared the worst after the United loss, same with the Spurs loss, and somehow we are still right in it. Just have to keep battling.

We'd likely fare better in the UEFA cup aka 6th spot next season but we all know that the players and manager will want the champions league, and we all want the revenue, and we all want to see Villa playing some of the biggest European teams at VP.

Hopefully we can still do it.

Villa are above their station. We will collapse over the line in 5th IMO.
We'll drop a load of points. Maybe get only one more win....probably be at Palace last day of the season with them on the beach.

But all of this is a huge achievement. Scraped out of Championship, scraped avoiding going back down, scraped Europe and hopefully scrape CL.

Doesn't matter how you do it.
From where we've come it's amazing.
