The Fulford/Villan57 Random Villa Stuff Thread

Wishing a very Happy 72nd Birthday, Dennis Mortimer. One of Aston Villa's best ever captains.:bday::wahey::cheers:

And this clip reminds me that roar was possibly the loused sound I ever heard from the Holte End. Happy days.

Happy Birthday to the great man.

72. Dearie me . I can remember his debut in 1975 supreme display and he never dropped from that standard.

Lord Ron certainly knew what he was doing.

Is that Trevor Hockey.
Morning mate,

It sure is, along with Charlie and I believe Sammy Morgan.

Sadly, Trevor died aged only 43 from a heart attack after playing in a five-a-side tournament.

Do you remember the chant.....

"6 foot 2
Eyes of blue
Sammy Morgan’s after you.":grinning:

What a lot of people didn't know was I seem to remember that Sammy played with contact lenses, but I may be wrong!?

And talking of chants, here is my all-time favourite.

When you're smiling,
When you're smiling.
The Holte End smiles with you.

When you’re laughing,
When you’re laughing,
The sun comes shining through.

So stop your crying,
You’ll bring on the rain.
So start your smiling,
Be happy again!

So when you’re smiling,
When you’re smiling,
The Holte End smiles with you.
Lala lala la
The Holte End smiles with you.
Lala lala la
The Holte … End … smiles … with … YOOOOOooou!

Yes I remember well. As sirdennis says you didn't take liberties with those three. Charlie was my first left back and still lives long in the memory.

My first left back was Peter Aldis, 1957 FA Cup winner. Peter started his career at Hay Green FC,. One of my former clubs, l remember Club Boss, Graham Brown organised a Match programme and we bunch of nere do Wells felt like proper players. We had some decent players at our modest level, Roger Gwilliams, John Corrigan and Terry Needle. The latter was a winger and could thread his way through defences.
Yes,also my first goalie.
First goalie was Nigel Sims.
