Summer transfer window thread

21 signings. 3 immediately went out on loan so only 18 in reality. Niakhate, Richard’s and Mangala were injured so three were replacements so only 15. 5 players from last season were on loan so had to be replaced so only expanded and/or improved squad by 10 players. Normally in a window Forest transfer in about 8 players so only a small increase. Recognising the 5 substitute rule this season we required a much bigger squad. The numbers brought in has enabled us to stand still, numbers wise. Where we have improved is the quality of the squad and the age of the squad plus them mostly being our players.

Something like the page posted, is clearly a copyright infringement.

Their position on digital rights, is that most of the material they host is public domain.
However, something that the author/intellectual property owner doesnt make public domain e.g. an article from the Athletic, then archive.org state if "...they're made aware of content that infringes someone's copyright, we will remove it per our Copyright Policy".

Why The Athletic have not informed archive's admins of this, is up to them.

However, having access tp content that requires payment for free, is clearly a breach of copyright.

I mean, its right there in the homepage T&Cs:

e) not to infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, or other proprietary rights of any person,[/QUOTE]

lol you can even stick a page on google translate and see it that way. theres dozens of simple ways around it. think they will prosecute google?

Google is a search engine, and doesnt host, nor control these sites.

I'm not saying that there aren't simple ways around it, but the simple fact is, the page you posted and any proxy site, breaches copyright.

Does the Intellectual Property owner wish to grant access to their IP behind a paywall or via subscription? If its yes - which is the case with the Athletic - then ANYWHERE on the internet that allows the free access of said IP is Copyright infringement.

If you post such things on Vital, then, because VItal is not obfuscated/proxied, then they - OKD, The Fear - could be subject to prosecution.
Why the 90% of sites you mention aren't prosecuted, is because they're hidden, and identifying the pirates would be nigh on impossible for any legal entity associated with the IP owners.

Tor'ing, datacentres that withhold identification, VPN's etc etc, all ways that piracy can exist.

Can we get back to discussions about transfers rather than discussions about intellectual property rights and copyright infringement. Otherwise it will be back to Hillsborough, or pictures of fences in the 1970s, or jokes about tops off in Trap 2.

Personally, I think Forest have done well, and all those signed will add value to the squad without too much risk, as they are well within FFP plus what the owner actually has without hocking the assets.

Hence, why I've deleted the links - what any of you do in private is nothing to do with me.

Put like that we should have signed another half dozen...

Dont forget one of those signings doesnt arrive til december..

Just a point on this

When premier league teams get promoted, I always think it's important to use the money and opportunity to pick up players like this. Bowler may not be good enough for the PL every week yet, but at between £2-4 million it is a bargain that no one in the championship could have benefitted from once a PL team was interested.

If worst comes to worst and we are relegated, it is often signings like this that come in and tear the division apart to get you back up. Clever business to take the chance to pick this up; he may never be this cheap again
