Championship club Blackpool are reportedly set to sign Chelsea player Dujon Sterling on loan before the transfer window shuts.
According to Football London, the 21-year-old has agreed a new deal to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge. It is understood that the youngster will pen a fresh two-year deal that includes the option of an extra year.
However, the report explains that he’ll now leave the Blues on loan to play regular first-team football in the second tier.
Football London’s report explains that the defender has impressed Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and his staff during pre-season, but he’ll now head to Blackpool on a season-long loan.
Sterling, who’s a huge talent to come from the Chelsea academy, has played two senior games for the club during his career.
Some of his senior development has been away from West London, though, with previous loans at Coventry City and Wigan Athletic.
The London-born defender will now hope to shine for a Blackpool side that are currently in the bottom three of the Championship.

If Sterling’s loan deal is finalised, it’s a vital 2021/22 season for him.
He’s a versatile defender that can play as a centre-back or wing-back in a back-three, but judging by Blackpool’s system perhaps he’ll operate as a right-back in a four-man defence.
The speedster has all the traits of modern day full-back and you should look at the calibre of right-backs to come out of Cobham in recent years. Reece James, Tariq Lamptey and Tino Livramento all fall into that category.
Tuchel liking Sterling is a massive confidence boost for him, so he now needs to go impress in the Championship if he’s going to propel himself into the first team at the Bridge
So genuine link man between midfield and attack?
I wonder what his 'expired' release clause said. I suppose Oxford could still sell himOne Oxford fan on Avftt reckons thry have turned us rown, that his release clause has already expired for this window and that he won't be leaving. Would we sign both Wintle and him?

Dougall, Stewart, Wintle? Who else have we got that can play in the middle? Virtue and Ward injured. One Oxford fan on Avftt reckons thry have turned us rown, that his release clause has already expired for this window and that he won't be leaving. Would we sign both Wintle and him?
He's normally a '10' but Oxford had injuries last season and moved him back to a deeper role. When I've watched Oxford (limited viewings, granted!) he's played more as the playmaker in midfield, but slightly deeper at the base of a midfield 3? Comparisons to Pirlo (style, not quality) are abound on the Oxford forums.
He sounds like exactly the sort of player we should be going after, but i'm sceptical that Oxford (having already sold one of the better players for good money this summer) will let him go for anything under £1m this close to the end of the window.
Abel, I assume you think we have a good chance of getting Brannagan given that your Dad is pessimistic about it ?
Alan Nixon reporting fee agreed for Gabriel
I am afraid he appears resigned to a life of pessimism, Bear!
I keep saying Simms will be permanent if it happens.Gabriel AND potentially Sterling in?
If we didn't only have 2 points from 5 games you might say it was worth the wait!
Hopefully they both come off though. What do we think our remaining priorities are then?
- Playmaking midfielder (ala Branaghan?)
- Wide Player (Crewe lad - or can Sterling play further up as well?)
- ?
Still got a few loan spaces left. Any rumours on Simms Abel?
