I stood on the South Common for the Newcastle friendly many years ago as I couldn't afford a ticket. There wasn't much atmosphere up there and the view was a bit limited, but at least me and Sigiriya junior got to see the game (well, at least half of it. You can only see part of the pitch from up there). When we played Man City at home in the league I couldn't afford to go then either, so I had to put up with peering through the gaps in the security gates with a couple of other hardy soles. When life gets that tough it stops you worring about a little thing like which seat you end up in. Just being there is what counts.
