#COVID19

Is the tier system just gone then? Any plans to bring that back? The butcher is as clear as ever.

Covid third wave no longer expected in the summer, government advisers admit
Overly pessimistic modelling predicted a surge of new infections, as warmer weather is a 'covid killer'.

Why is there never any acknowledgement that they got their projections wrong? And why no appropriate questions from the media as to why they continue to flog their fearporn to a nation cowering anyway?
Why is there no shame?
This along with 'R will increase to 1.5 when the schools open' headlines.

Data not dates!!!

They take us for morons.
I typed 'covid third wave no longer expected' into google and got two articles:
The Telegraph with exactly that headline
Some Welsh news outlet with the headline 'Covid third wave now expected in Autumn instead of Summer.'
Seems its not clear that a third wave isn't coming, more just an issue of timing.

Anyway I'm not sure why you would blame the scientists for this. The government gets to choose which models it wants to use, and it doubtlessly chooses the ones that send the right message. So what do you want the scientists to do exactly? Submit themselves for public flogging? Promise to never do science again?

As well as the tier system has the contact tracing app that cost all that money just been binned quietly as well?

Everyone over 16 either has to check in on the app or provide all contact details to staff Which will be used by track and trace in the event of an outbreak.

It's not compulsory to provide details and, as you say, there are other ways to do it without using the app

What are they please.

Here if we go into a restaurant, pub etc. we can't get in without it and plenty of other places do the same. It does work well.

Had my first jab today, out of the blue, AZ, that's the only one available for old timers, and some folk are turning it down, although it's the only one available for quite a long time. Nobody appears to know how long. The small reserve of Pfizer is reserved for younger people. No complaints from me.

It's beginning to look as though a passport of some sort is on the cards, perhaps starting when you go to buy a ticket on an International flight.

You can just write your name and contact details down

part of LA licensing agreement for pubs is that they are able to show they have procedures to stop entry and service of anyone refusing to give contact details. Whether landlords carry thru this process is up to them but the LA’s appear to be policing this with regular visits.

Not particularly, but I guess your comment triggered mine. I'm sure there are people looking to get around the system in one way or another.

It's a transition period for this app.
When there were 50,000 new infections per day it was essential, however now people run the risk of getting informed by the app to isolate, who are sitting outside in a beer garden with a very small risk of catching it.
This app, as far as I know, takes no account of vaccinations and/or natural immunity, so being pragmatic I, personally and many more like me are at an incredibly low risk.

Saying all that, I did scan in last night prior to a couple of pints of Neck Oil, which were the best two pints I have EVER had.
