Au Yeung would never have been in charge of the club to make the call on admin if the EFL failed him. Without having Yeung to 'sell to' Choi probably wouldn't have wanted to put us into admin or liquidation as it would damage him, IEC share price and see them lose even more money. I believe they'd have most likely had to get to summer and sell players and club to minimise his loses. Even if he asset stripped us we'd still be a Championship club and easier to sell.
This ones had been debated to death previously so I don't want to open up old wounds but IMO Choi was never going to spend another penny, Au Yeung (probably Choi's patsy) never wanted or intended to run a football club and didn't give two shits about EFL membership, the EFL could not have controlled or prevented the sale of the company ownership between IEC and NLF, they could only influence EFL membership, the Hong Kong twins made a right bollocks up as they could have recouped a load more money by adopting a different approach but (probably for factors unknown to me) they went down the stupid route they did with a complete disregard for the well being of the club, the players, the staff, the creditors and the fans.
I've always been suspicious of the timing in relation to IEC's move to buy the Manila Casino but this is entirely speculation on my part.
