Coronavirus tipping point

Taking your top figure of 60k , and if we say a population of 70 million , that's not that many.

That's at least three times as many as would be viewed as a good result by the government scientists back in March.
Do you have a number of deaths in mind that you might feel were enough to call too many?

Why don't you work out the percentage of how many have died , compared to the population ?

But we know the true figure is between 50,000 and 60,000 but the Govt only reports deaths based on positive tests.
So you're saying that there are thousands who died with COVID-19 but weren't classified as such because they weren't tested but dismiss the possibility that some were wrongly classified as COVID-19 deaths even though they weren't tested ?

It also depends how severe the winter flu season was in the comparative years. It is maybe a guide but not a fact.

My point is , what is (Wayne's) 60 thousand out of 70million , expressed as a percentage ?
I never expressed it as a percentage but as an absolute figure that could have been lower by all accounts. And you can tell the families of those who lost someone that the figures don't amount to much, ie not that many.

According to the ONS the figure is significantly higher than the deaths based on those tested as positive in hospital or nursing homes, which is what the Govt figures are based on.
but dismiss the possibility that some were wrongly classified as COVID-19 deaths even though they weren't tested ?
That's largely bollocks because, as you are well aware, even the Govt stated at the outset that many who died because of underlying medical conditions.

Why don't you express it as a percentage ? , as you're an accountant (amongst so many other things)
As far as telling families , what can you say ?
Shit happens , because we are only humans , and liable to all sorts of nasty stuff.

The answer is 0.085% of the population have died of covid , based on your 60k / 70m figures.
Doesn't sound quite as dramatic now , does it ?

Looking at all the mass gatherings the data in two weeks should tell us a lot about the state of the virus.

If we dont see a spike then surely the risk has reduced significantly.

This government - bunch of totally incompetent shysters and liars
Just fing go you bstards
Could have cost up to 40,000 lives. Disgraceful. fing go you incompetent wnkers. And see you in court.
