Not sure anyone is giving him shite. You've asked us to compare him with Darikwa and people are doing that.
Exaclty.
And in football terms its like comparing Laurel with Hardy

I agree, Darikwa has improved considerably, and he still is not, and never will be good enough.
Anyone who took the time to observe Lichaj's contribution in games, rather than his moronic hand clapping, would have noticed how poor a player he was.
Of course you're not going to find world class players with no flaws in their game at this level, but that doesn't mean we should be content with defenders who can't defend.
We've had too many of them in recent years - Traore, Mancienne, Mills - and I think Eric stood out in a bad crowd. I'm sure there's a reason why he's gone to a club who look like they'll be playing in League One next year.

Think we just have differing opinions on this one OKD. I gather that you think Lichaj was a decent defender among a group of poor defenders; I think he was a poor defender who contributed to us having a poor team for several years.
Wasn't upset to see him leave, we haven't missed him and I think it speaks volumes that he's ended up at Hull.
Good enough for what exactly? The same could be levelled at virtually every member of the squad depending upon our objectives.
Yes he contributed to us being a poor team, but anymore so than Mills, Mancienne, Traore, Hobbs, Perquis, Hilda Pereira, Lica, Dumitru, Stoijkovic, Henderson, Bendtner, Vellios, McCormack, Kasami, Carayol, Fryatt, Macheda, O'Grady, Kelvin Wilson....
No he didn't contribute any more so than those players, but there's a reason why Eric and all of those listed above are no longer at the club.
For me it ultimately comes down to whether we actually miss Lichaj and if we'd be a stronger team if he stayed? Personally I think not and that Darikwa, Janko and Byram (assuming he stays with us when he's fit) are all upgrades.
There hasn't been a point at any time this season where I've thought: "I wish we'd have kept Lichaj, we could really do with him".

I don't think he is good enough for where we are at the moment, and, despite the improvement on his earlier efforts, I just cannot see him improving sufficiently enough to be a competent Championship level Full Back.
All teams have weak links; unfortunately, he happens to be ours at the moment.
I think Darikwa is also a stop gap.
No one in their right mind is going to change their minds on the basis of a good, and it was good, 45 minutes against the bottom of the table.
He reverted to type in the second half putting us under pressure with some awful decision making.
