Your top 10 films

So what are your top ten films you've seen most often?

I don't think I can do ten but here's my go:

1. The Matrix
2. Calvary
3. Happy Gilmore
4. True Romance
5. Intermission
6. The Young Offenders
7. Sunset Boulevard
8. In Bruges
9. I Went Down
10. The Dark Knight

What do you know? There's ten. That's in rough order of the most times I've seen the film. I've probably watched The Dark Knight 3 times and The Matrix is definitely in the teens.

Well I've just had a quick look through my hard drive, and it's ridiculous what I didn't think of. I've left out any from my previous list, but still, it's a long one as I've watched these movies at least 3 times, some probably in the teens.

So here's ten...

Groundhog Day
What About Bob
Sexy Beast
The Untouchables
American History X
In The Name Of The Father
My Left Foot
Take Shelter
The Truman Show
Highlander
Jurassic Park
Krull
The Princess Bride
Kill List
The Devils Advocate
Goldeneye
Alien
Demolition Man
Independence Day
Predator (can't believe I forgot that one)
Good Will Hunting
Source Code
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Terminator
American Psycho
Dead Man's Shoes
Falling Down
Lost Highway
Silence of The Lambs
Seven
Platoon
Braveheart
Full Metal Jacket
Saving Private Ryan
The Matrix
The Shining

Not in any order of preference.

7, Once Upon a Time in America.

I had Once Upon a Time in the West on my list which I'd thoroughly recommend. I love Once Upon a Time in America too which concluded Leone's 'Once Upon Time' trilogy.

This was panned by the critics but the full directors cut version is a masterpiece IMO. James Woods was absolutely brilliant in it as well.

Or how about doing it like the thread title says.
Top 10 fims.
Choose your top ten films. If you can't stop whinging about it and go into another thread .

Whatever next. Telling us that you don't know who you can meet outside, whether you should go to work, use public transport or exercise in Wales .
This nation needs spoon feeding all of a sudden.

I'm taking the piss out of Fears Top 10 list thread and proving Mike right at the same time, lol

I wonder if I could just do 10 with a gun pointed at my head....

No, as said early in the thread, no hard and fast rules, just thought it was a good idea to have a return of this sort of thread and so it has turned out!! Brought back some great memories of films long forgotten!

Yeah the question should be reframed as:

If you could only watch 10 films for the rest of your life, which would they be?

Kind of a desert island discs scenario...

Right, desert island discs it is then. The definitve SJH collection, no more whinging....

In no particular order:

Goodfellas
Terminator 2 - Judgement Day
The Shawshank Redemption
Predator
Platoon
The Commitments
Batman Returns
Unforgiven
Lord Of The Rings - The Return of The King
Pulp Fiction

Because I'm bored I've looked to see what the most popular films are so far (mentioned in lists, or part of franchises)

Goodfellas
The Shawshank Redemption
Heat
Pulp Fiction
Terminator 2
True Romance
and Star Wars films.

Not bad.

Yeah, feel free to do whatever lists you want in here.

The polls are useless though mate, used to be able to have guests voting so we'd get a good cross section, but the new forum software, for some reason, doesn't allow that. So we'd only get a few votes.

I feel like we should do a top 10 per genre to give people more scope.

Comedies
Thrillers
Action
Horror
Family (non-animated)
Family (animated)
Drama

Maybe we could then set up some polls and find out Vital Villas top 7 films (1 per genre)?

Or maybe I'm just sad and should shut up?

Great idea, that would be fun.

I'll just swap the animated category with fantasy or something, as I don't really watch animated movies
