Villa v Baggies Play Off Semi-Final Thread (home and away)

I'm glad.

Didn't need it.
The applause and cheering was enough and said it all. Must be something wrong with my hearing because I thought that atmosphere was rocking without Oasis

Hopefully it's done with now anyway.

Not that I could hear it properly but the 'classical shite' I think was Allez Allez which is now far more appropriate due to us adopting that terrace chant which seems to have grown organically over this last part of the season.

Agree, have zero affinity to the Oasis track...they played High ho after the game today...would much rather belt that out than 'Don't look back in Anger'.....no relevance to us at all.

Walking back up Aston Lane after the game a police escort brought through nine coach loads of Albion tossers on their way back to yam yam land.
Never seen such a bunch of miserable bastards all together in one place before.

I had a woman in a TT with a private WBA numberplate nearly run me over in her escape to get away under the Fuck the Albion soundtrack. To be fair I don’t blame her for wanting to get away having watched that

much better.

playing oasis (I like oasis) which is a Manchester anthem, makes us look ridiculous.

As you say, there was plenty of noise and hi ho was much more appropriate after the game.

Find it difficult to believe that some fans think they are at a 'disco' and need music played for them to join in with. Fans should be making the noise.

The baggies fans can't possibly be happy with their showing today. I heard some say on the radio that they would have taken a 2-1 defeat before . They were so negative I thought. If they get to the premier league they will need serious work otherwise they will be totally embarrased.

With the players they have you'd expect better. Most of that lot were in the premier league a year ago, but when you play a 3-6-1 that morphs into a 5-4-1 then you're asking for trouble, especially with a relatively inexperienced manager. It's one thing seeing Pulis et al doing it as they have played that way for eons...

Then..... trust today of all games to be the only game when John McGinn looked human !. He was really poor by his standards today.

I heard he had to run home before kick off to cover for his kids paper rounds, follow that with his usual pre match 20 mile run and I think he was just a little tired

Jeff Beck is from Surrey, does that mean Hi Ho Silver Lining is a Surrey anthem? The original tune to ‘Allez Allez Allez’ is by an Italian pop group, does that mean its an Italian anthem? ??‍♂️ Just because Don’t Look Back In Anger is by a popular band from Manchester doesn’t mean we can’t adopt it as one of our own like we do other songs such as those listed above. I was looking forward to it after the game too but also enjoyed Hi Ho Aston Villa.

I always associate Hi Ho silver lining with the Dingles, I don’t really know why - maybe because it was the molinuex I first heard it sang. Am I on my own there?

Unpopular opinion but DLBIA to me had some sentimental meaning after the Lerner years.

Cit£h have had it as their anthem for years.

Silly goal to give away and it did knock the usually dependable Wheelan, The throstles tactic of parking two eighteen wheelers in front of goal couldn't work for ever, what a whack by the lad, he does score some screamers, as a local playoff derby I suppose it should have been expected, but the good guys came out on top at the end, a deserved mention for Steer, he's waited a long time to be our number one, looks like he wants to keep it, good for him.

As for tunes, it's Hi Ho all the way from us old farts

Yes it did. I agree and it was appropriate then.

But two owners later we have moved on . That particular moment in our history is done and dusted as far as I am concerned. It might not be rectified completely as we are not back promoted but DLBIA is now irrelevant to the club .

And that's from someone who was right in the mix at knebworth in 96.

I’ve only ever heard Wonderwall after their games. Never heard Don’t Look Back In Anger after. I think some people just think because they’re well known, big city fans that the song is for City.
